The 100 One Shot

It was more luck than anything that Jasper was able to kill grounders and not end up in a grave himself. No one on of the survivors in your group were fighters by trade but some of you were adapting to do well at protecting others, Jasper wasn't going to be one of them. He had been one of your best friends on the Ark, along with Monty, but since you had all been sent to Earth he had seemingly forgotten about the two of you as he grew in popularity due to the lucky kill he had. You were proud of him at first. He had proved himself and you couldn't blame him for gloating a little but when he told the story to the group for the twentieth time and had nearly everyone caught on his every word, you were losing your mind.

Everything was starting to become too much and as you and Monty watched on at your friend acting like a hero that he wasn't, you felt as though you needed to put him back in his place. You finally stood up from the group sat around him, not able to hear his stretches of the truth any longer.

"Bullshit," you announced, gaining the eyes of everyone.

"What?" Jasper asked, his voice cracking, knowing you were one of the few who could ruin his facade.

"You're so full of yourself. Do you think anyone here could give a shit about what you have to say if they weren't all so terrified of dying? You aren't a hero. You haven't done anything to help us here, instead you're here boosting your ego as you did something that so many of us have to do to try and keep us safe without saying a word," you frowned.

He tried to keep his head held high and confident in his story, but his belief was beginning to falter.

"What are you talking about?" He retorted.

"Somebody can kill themselves by jumping from your ego to your IQ," you huffed. "You don't care about protecting people, you don't care about helping us all survive."

"I do care," he whispered, his strong bravado having almost completely fallen to your harsh words.

"Then show it. Don't stand here every day and get everyone to listen to this shit. Actually, do something then maybe you'll be the person I did once think was my hero."
