As a child you'd found it hard to make friends, you weren't necessarily shy, but it took a lot for you to go up to another kid and speak to them.

Throughout your time in junior school you'd been best friends with Robbie and his brother Tom – Robbie had spoken to you first and Tom was introduced later but since then you and Robbie were inseparable.

Your mothers always joked about the future you'd have together.

And then the final year of your junior school your parents moved from London to Eastbourne for your Mum's job and you and Robbie had lost touch.

You'd missed your best friend so much over the past few years; you'd not had his comforting presence when you'd started to freak out, you didn't have the afterschool dinners or weekend hangouts.

Of course, your mum had kept in contact with Robbie's mum every so often, so you'd seen photos of the boys but hadn't actually spoken to either of them since moving.

Needless to say, you were completely and utterly surprised when you saw Robbie standing outside your school that Friday evening.

"Oh my god!" you yelled out as you ran towards him.

A few of your peers turned in confusion at your exclamation but you weren't exactly paying attention to them.

Robbie laughed in your ear as he caught you by the waist and twirled you around.

"What's up peanut?" he spoke as he squeezed you.

You couldn't believe that your best friend was standing right in front of you – you broke out into a massive smile when you heard the nickname that had been yours for years.

"I guess the surprise worked," he murmured to himself.

You looked at him in confusion once he'd put you down.

"Your mum totally knew we were moving here, has done for over a month but she didn't want to tell you," he quickly explained and laughed as he watched your facial expressions go between confusion and happiness and pure surprise.

"Wait, so this means that you're here for good? Like good good?" you questioned, getting increasingly more excited.

Robbie laughed and pulled you back into a hug. "We're back together peanut, for good good."

Since that day you and Robbie had easily slipped back into the inseparable phase of your friendship.

It was very rare that one of you would be found without the other but that had also started a fair few rumours around your school about the two of you.

Some of the comments made were actually pretty harsh, everyone knew how good-looking Robbie and Tom were and it was no secret that quite a few girls were after them.

Whilst walking along the sea front with Robbie he intertwined his fingers with yours.

"Rob, have you heard the stuff they've been saying about us at school?"

He nodded, kicking a few stones around and slinging his arm over your shoulder.

"Why haven't you said anything to anyone?" you questioned, still holding his hand and secretly loving it.

Shrugging, he looked down at you. "Why would I need to?"

You rolled your eyes and then nudged him playfully. "So many of those girls want to go out with you Rob, don't you think you should let them know that you're actually single?"

"You know I don't want to go out with any of them, right?" he told you sounding slightly nervous. "And besides, I'm hoping not to be single for too much longer."

As he said that you stopped walking completely and turned around to face him.

He chuckled at your sudden movements and instinctively put his hands on your waist.

"What girl has caught your eye?" you questioned in surprise. "It can only be one of the ones from school."

He smirked, squeezing your waist gently. "Well I have been going to school with her since I was three years old, so I guess that counts."

He couldn't help but smile to himself as he watched the gears turn in your head, he'd been wondering for weeks – since he'd come back really – how he could tell you that he liked you.

It was completely true; he'd thought they might've gone away but as soon as he'd seen you again those few months ago it had all come rushing back.

"You don't mean what I think you mean," your voice was shaky as you spoke, not wanting to believe it even though it's all you'd wanted since you'd been together again.

He chuckled as he leant down to rest his forehead against yours. "It's always been you peanut."
