The Boys One Shot

"Hey... honey wake up..." Torn from the blissful dreamworld which you had been so idyllic and peaceful you slowly opened your crust-adorned eyes to see a calmly cheerful Hughie perched on the edge with a warm plate firmly held under his hand. "Wake up." With a spare cosy hand he brushed his fingers against your chilly cheek.

"What's going on?" You wiped a sleeve across your disorientated eyes and propped yourself up against the soft headboard. "Hughie?"

"I made you breakfast!" He held the plate under your nose and let the light aromas of grilled bacon, butter-soaked crispy toast and fluffy scrambled eggs infiltrate your dozing nostrils.

"What... what's all this for?" You asked through a deep and hearty yawn. As Hughie ran his hands across your cheek and through your hair you slowly fell into reality.

"I know you have the old promotion talk at work and it wouldn't take a psychologist to see how stressed you've been." He softly placed a hard tray over your lap and let the slightly sharp prickles of his facial rub across the bridge of your nose as he planted his lips tenderly on your forehead. "I figured you would rush out of the house this morning because... I just know how you are so I wanted to make sure you ate something before you went."

"What time is it?" You asked as you placed the edge of a slice of the warm toast into your mouth.

"Quarter past seven." He proudly smiled. "I made sure I gave you plenty of time to eat and I figured that if you had eaten you might want a bit of time to let it settle. I thought very carefully about when to have breakfast ready for."

"Thank you darling." You finished off the toast before taking a robust forkful of the chive-infused scrambled eggs. "I really don't know what I did to deserve you. "Hughie sat smugly with arms crossed on the edge of the bed.

"It gets better! I also got you a nice little ensemble together so you didn't have to worry about finding clothes. I picked something that is in fashion, I checked with your sister, would be... professional yet fun and would be comfortable enough for you to be walking around with the operations manager all day."

"Hughie you have the fashion sense of a camel."

"Would you feel better if I said I was on facetime with your sister and basically just put the clothes on a hangar together?" You smiled. "You go y/n... you get that promotion!"
