2 Broke Girls One Shot

Caroline could not stop her hand from trembling as she sat you down on the stained sofa of her apartment and stared anxiously and absently into her lap.

"Caroline... why can't you just tell me what's wrong?" She looked up for just a short moment and smiled before returning to her previous state of picking at her nails and rubbing her clammy hands across her mustard uniform.

"I can, and I will. I just need to build to it." The tenseness of it all was eating away at you, it was only ten minutes since Caroline called you from the diner and asked you to rush over as quickly as possible, you were sure that she was injured or something terrible had happened.

"Come on Caroline, how bad can it be... what, when is the baby due?" You joked but Caroline's head shot from her lap with tears almost filling her eyes.

"How did you find out? Did Max tell you I'm pregnant?" The small pools of tears that began to fill her eyes slowly overfilled and the tears now ran down her cheeks.

"What, no! I was just joking. Is that why you asked me to come over for?" She just nodded and began dabbing at her eyes with a tissue she pulled from the pocket of her apron. "When did you find out? How did you find out?"

"I just didn't feel right, so Max... procured me a test from the drug store and a big fat plus came up."

"And you're sure you've read the test right? Sometimes these things can be as confusing as all hell." She nodded again and pulled a small carton from the same pocket a her tissue. "Please don't tell me you've been carrying that thing around in there?" She nodded again and carefully pulled the test from it's box. "Well shit." Was all you could muster as you stared at the big red plus.

"I don't know what to do. How am I going to cope, I can't afford a baby? The father can definitely not afford a baby either, what do I do?" All you could do was take Caroline's head onto your chest as her tears slowly moistened your shirt.

"Well at the end of the day it's your choice, if you want this baby and you think you can give it the life it deserves then go for it, if you don't want it, then you know we will all support you one hundred percent." A feint 'thank you' fell from her face which was now almost completely buried into your chest. "Don't worry, you'll be okay."
