"I have to work this weekend." Mom spoke as we were sitting at the table in the kitchen. It was around six in the afternoon on a Thursday night. We were having dinner as a family like we always do and talking about things here and there.

I stuck my fork into the beans as I look up at her. "I understand."

She wipes her mouth before smiling at me before looking over at Caleb. "Are you going to watch your sister?"

"Mom," I groan. "I'll be fine."

She gives me a look as her eyes landed on Caleb, who was taking a sip of his drink. After he placed it down, he looks at me then rubs his chin. "Maybe. I might just let her outside every once in a while to use the bathroom."

Mom slaps his arm then looks over at me. I smile at her as I remembered that I had plans this weekend anyways.

"Actually, I'm going out this weekend with my friends." I look at Caleb. "House is all yours buddy."

"No parties." Mom sternly says.

Caleb nods as he pushes his beans around his plate. "Yeah, I know the rules. I might just hang out with my buds this weekend anyways."

Mom looks at us both. "Well, who is responsible to hold onto the house keys?"

I look at Caleb as he looks at me, then points. "Addy."

Smiling, I saw mom nod. "Alright then. Make sure there's nothing left on when you leave the house. No lights are on and every electrical appliance is off."

Nodding, I understood the drill.

It's rare when we're all away from the house, but when it happens, I'm mostly responsible to handle the keys. I'm the one that makes sure everything is turned off and ok before I leave.

Caleb is sorta responsible but he's not trustworthy.

Mom trusts me more than him and that says a lot since he's the oldest.

"I will be working from five in the morning to midnight tomorrow, then I got back in at six and work until God knows when." She sighs as she looks at the table.

I've been thinking about getting a job a lot lately. I knew that it would be the best thing to do, that way Caleb can get a job also so we'll all be making money.

It will let mom catch a break and she won't have to be killing herself working so much.

She's taking these long shifts because she knows we need to have the money coming in. I respect her so much for everything she's done for us and it's time for us to pay her back.

After dinner was over, I cleaned up then walked upstairs. I was going to my room, but Caleb's door was open so I decide to see what he was up too.

When I peeked my head in, he had binoculars on his face as he was looking out the window towards the house next door.

I stood there for a moment, knowing he was spying on that woman. I shook my head as I walked in then looked around, trying to keep quiet so he wouldn't hear me right now.

He kept looking out the window, looking like a total stalker and creep. I honestly couldn't believe my brother was doing this and he's twenty four years old.

Walking up behind him, I looked around him as I saw a window open and she was standing there in the middle of the room. I kept watching her as she was standing there, looking at something in her hands.

If she looks over and see's us, I'm running for the hills and blaming Caleb.

Caleb sighs before moving the binoculars from his face and turning around.
