"Addy..."
I swallowed down hard, knowing that the fear of getting caught by my mom was greater now than it was when I thought about it.
"We've.. been seeing each other."
She continued to stare at me. "How long?"
"Like.. a month." I watch her for a moment. "Ever since she started watching me those nights that you were at work." I search her eyes. "I really.. like her, mom."
I watch as she was processing all of this, not knowing what she was going to say next. I was in terror right now cause all of this could crash and burn in an instant.
"I need wine."
Following my mom into the kitchen, I watch as she grabs the wine from the fridge before taking a glass from the cabinet and pouring a glass.
I was waiting for her to pour only a little, but she continued to pour until the glass was almost full.
After she gulped down half the glass, she looks over at me for a moment. "So.. y'all are seeing each other?"
"More like dating.. yeah."
She took another chug of wine.
She stood there for a moment, processing all of this informarion.
"I think I need to talk to her."
"About what?"
After she was done with her glass, she pours another one before chugging it a little then setting it on the counter.
"We just need to have a talk."
I watch her for a moment. "Ok.."
She looks at me then sighs. "If you're wondering if I'm mad, the answer is no. I'm shocked to say the least, Addy. I'm speechless. I didn't expect this at all.. no mother that I know of expects this from their daughter." She looks at me.
Looking down at the floor, I look back up at her as she walks towards me. She wraps her arms around me before sighing, giving me a hug.
"I'm sorry, mom. I should of told you sooner. I didn't know how you'll react."
She pulls back. "It's ok. I do need to talk to Dylan though."
"About what?" I ask again.
She only smiled. "We just need to talk."
"Am I going to be included."
I watch as she turns and pours another glass before turning back towards me and shaking her head. "No, it's just a conversation for us."
I watch as she leaves the kitchen a little afterwards.
*
The next morning, I woke up to noises outside my window. I leaned up then looked outside to see Dylan out in the yard with my mom. I rubbed my eyes before watching them for a moment, then mom motioned Dylan to follow her inside the house.
Getting out of bed, I quickly got dressed before running downstairs. I met them at the end of the stairs before stopping suddenly and looking at them as they walked inside.
Mom smiles at me before looking over at Dylan, who looked at both of us. I wasn't sure if she even knew that mom knew yet cause I didn't tell her last night.
I honestly thought mom would walk over there last night and confront her, but she didn't and I'm thankful for that.
Now it was the next morning and I have to deal with whatever my mom was planning on doing today.
