Second Task

The day of the second task arrived. The twins were once again collecting bets from various students. I stood right next to the lake, waiting for them to arrive since I promised them I would sit with them this time instead of Andre. I hugged Cedric and wished him good luck as he walked to the stands to get ready for the task. I said good luck to Fleur; Andre had introduced me to her a few weeks ago. Viktor passed me silently-focused on his task. I still hadn't seen Harry when the twins dragged me over to the stands to watch.

"It's bloody freezing out here. And we can't even see what's going to happen because, spoiler alert, they'll all be in the Great Lake!" George pulled me close into his chest to warm me up.

"Is that better Mags?"

"A little" A smirk grew on his face.

"Have you seen Ron?" Fred asked me.

"No, not since yesterday." I replied. I hadn't seen Hermione either. Or Harry. That got me worried.

I saw Harry come sprinting down the path from school still dressed in his robes. Dear Lord that child needs some help. I still have yet to hold an actual conversation with him, but every time I see him he seems like a complete and utter disaster. Peaked young I guess.

With the sound of the canon, the contestants dived into the water. Fleur and Cedric used the bubblehead charm, while Viktor attempted to transfigure himself into a shark. Only his head managed, but I guess it worked fine because he dove in. A little Moana moment there. Harry seemed to be having a seizure on the dock for a few minutes until he went into the water. After a few seconds he jumped back up, but this time he had gills. He's so extra. I really should get around to meeting him. He really does the most.

As I predicted, it was quite cold and boring. There was no sign of any of the competitors. We had been told what precious items had been taken from the champions after the time had started. I thought it was sweet that Cedric had Cho. A little creepy that Viktor only had Hermione, when he had been at his school for a few years. Not the most loving I guess at Durmstrang. Fleur's person was her little sister, which is incredibly wholesome. Harry's was Ron. #Bromance. But when the twins heard their brother was sitting at the bottom of the lake surrounded by merpeople, they got extremely worried.

The combination of the twin's worry and the strong winds that blew through the stands, I found myself being hugged ever tighter by George, if that was possible. But I didn't mind it. He provided me protection from the bitter winds and I provided him a distraction from his brother. I caught him looking at me one time as we stood there, huddled together. He looked embarrassed as he quickly averted his gaze towards the lake.

Just then Fleur burst forth from the water. I started cheering until I saw the cuts on her legs and realized she was missing her sister.

"Ms. Delacour has dropped our due to a Grindylow attack." Dumbledore's voice announced. Poor Fleur. I remember those things from a DADA lesson, they were horrible.

2 minutes past the hour, Cedric burst forth from the lake, holding Cho in his hands. I applauded with all the other Hogwarts students. I was proud of him. Soon Viktor came with Hermione. Then it was Harry, well past the hour mark, with both Fleur's sister and Ron. The twins breathed a sigh of relief seeing that their little brother was alright, but George's grip on me never loosened.

Each contestant was treated by Madame Pomfrey as the judge's discussed the scores.

"To Ms. Delacour, who failed to achieve the goal but demonstrated excellent mastery of the bubblehead charm, we award 25 points" There was light applause for Fleur. "To Mr. Diggory, who also used the bubblehead charm and came back first, we award 47 points." Hollers were heard for Cedric. I locked eyes with him and waved. "To Mr. Krum, who used an incomplete transfiguration but managed to come second with his hostage, we award 40 points. To Mr. Potter, who came last but was the first to reach the hostages and demonstrated moral excellence, we award 45 points."

Now Harry and Cedric were tied. I quickly ran up to Cedric and congratulated him before joining the twins who were teasing Harry.

"Nice job, Moral Fiber" Fred said, playfully pushing Harry. Harry turned red at the embarrassment and quickly ran off to join Hermione and Ron.

"Eh, where you going, Moral Fiber?" George called after him.

"What a horrific nickname. I think I'd prefer the Chosen One" I added in. George threw his arm around me as we walked up to the Great Hall for dinner.
