Christmas at Grimmauld

I had't gone to St. Mungo's with anyone. The Weasley's insisted. Kept saying I'm part of the family or that I'm part of the order. The truth is, I'm not really part of either. I only met some of the Weasley's a year and a half ago. The others this summer. And I haven't gotten updates from the order at all recently. I was nothing.

So when they went to say hi to their dad, I stayed back with Sirius. I don't know where he was, but I sat in the room I share with Ginny. I played with the bee necklace my Mom had given me for Christmas last year. It's been a long time since I had Christmas with my mom, but this is the first year I'll truly be without her. She's still alive, or at least I haven't heard that she's dead. But there will be no gift exchanging and love sending.

It was better during the day when I could distract myself. But at night I felt like I was drowning. I mean, it's been so long-could she still possibly be alive? I didn't know, but I made a lot of theories.

----

Other than the fact that I feel like I'm drowning at any given moment, It's a happy Christmas. Mr. Weasley is back and there's a big celebration. Even now that I opened my doors to George, I still haven't told him about my current predicament. He's just so happy.

For Christmas, I received chocolate frogs from Ginny. Angelina sent me new gloves and goggles for quidditch, Katie sent me a super cute pink sweater, and Alicia sent me a silver bracelet. I got joke supplies from Fred. Mrs. Weasley even knitted me a Weasley family sweater. I smiled and thanked her, but it just reminded me of my own mother and how I'm faking being part of this family. I opened George's gift last.

It was wrapped in a beautiful silver wrapping paper. When I opened it, it revealed these two magnificent diamond earrings. They were small, which I think made him feel bad. But I hated large, flashy jewelry. I much preferred these. I kissed him quickly and told him how much better these are than the large ones that would break my ears. Then I looked up. Arthur and Molly and all the other order members that showed up, except for Tonks, were staring at us. It hit me. I don't know if he told his parents about us. I had told Sirius last night.

"Are you two dating?" Mrs. Weasley asked. I thought with the whole "you're part of the family" and "here's a sweater for you, Margaret" and all that she knew.

"yes, we are mum. I meant to tell you earlier, but I never got around to it." George told his mum. Well, glad that's cleared up.

"That's wonderful! I knew you would get a good girl, George. And Margaret is so bright and fantastic. That just adds to the Christmas joy!" Mrs. Weasley practically squealed.

"I guess she's not mad then. Sorry about outing us" I whispered to George.

"Not a problem" He kissed me again.

"Oh! George, Fred, and Harry I need to grab your presents." I saw Harry's face widen when he realized he didn't get me one. "It's alright Harry, I wouldn't have gotten you one either, no offense, but it goes along with what I got the twins' and so I decided to just do it because it was no trouble." I sprinted upstairs.

When I got back down, I was carrying three small boxes. But they were enchanted to be very large inside. They all looked at me confused before opening their presents. They each pulled out their brooms.

"Bloody hell, Mags! Is this my broom?" Fred looked like a little kid with ice cream.

"I thought Umbridge had these chained in her office!" George was closely examining the broom, making sure it really was his. Harry just sat there, shocked. Everyone else was also very curious as to how I managed this.

"It was difficult, not going to lie. But I had Katie tell her Peeves was destroyed a classroom on the other side of the castle. And since Katie is amazing and so sweet, Umbridge believed her. Of course, I had trashed the room before I came. I then snuck into her office and had to break through all these protective charms, but I managed to get your brooms."

"How did she not realize they were gone though?" George asked.

I smiled mischievously. "Well, that's the best part! I transfigured Malfoy's, Montague's, and that Crabbe person's brooms to look like yours after I stole them from the Slytherin locker room. Then I just had to lock them up and put back on the enchantments."

Everyone stared at me in awe. The twins then tackled me to the ground in a bear hug, earning a scolding from Mrs. Weasley but I just laughed. It felt good. It was a brief respite from the constant sadness that had clogged my brain for the past few days. Harry looked uncomfortable, so I assured him he didn't have to hug me. He still thanked me profusely though.

After that, we had a delicious breakfast. I went to sit beside Tonks, who I hadn't seen in a long time.

"Long time no see, Mags" Tonks says.

"I know. Umbridge started reading a lot of our letters and I'm one of her favorite targets, so I stopped writing letters after my owl came back with a broken wing."

"She broke your owl's wing? That bitch. I heard she's the worst."

"Oh but you'll be quite proud. I used a lot of ideas from the stories you told me about your days at Hogwarts to get back at her."

"I'm so proud!" Tonks shouted across the table, causing everyone to look at us. "Nothing to see here, go back to your food" she said.

"I have a present for you." I handed her a neat package wrapped in a bubblegum pink bow, like her hair. When she opened it, the twin's peruvian darkness powder exploded everywhere.

When it disappeared, everyone was glaring at us. But Tonks and I couldn't breathe from laughing so hard. "That was so good, Mags! I see the twins and I have rubbed off on you. I'm even more proud now."

"here's your actual present" I presented her with a necklace with a constellation on it.

"Oh it's beautiful, Mags. Here's yours." She gave me a beautiful pale blue dress.

"Amazing. How's it going with Remus?" Tonks and Remus have obviously liked each other for a while. But he was concerned that people would judge her. He didn't realize Tonks gave 0 fucks where people's opinions are concerned. We are very similar that way.

"I think I'm getting closer. He trusts me more now, anyways. I just wish he could see that I don't care about the age gap or the fact that he's a werewolf. I actually think its pretty badass."

"Of course you do. You're an auror."

We chatted amicably for a long time. Overall, it was a pretty good Christmas. I just wish my mother was here. Or that I at least knew she was safe.
