The shock that the twins were leaving Hogwarts was enough to clear the fog from my mind for good. I was determined to stay alert and attentive now, and I was slowly going back. It was hard to joke around at first, but then I fell right back into my old rhythm. Of course, I wasn't going to let the twins have all the fun. They'll take the credit so that Umbridge doesn't try to expel me, but I'm still helping to plan and execute everything.

We decided their Filibuster fireworks are a good place to start. They're incredibly disruptive and incredibly hard to get rid of. If you try to blast them out of the sky, they multiply times 10! They show off the twin's extraordinary magical talent as well, which people often overlook. I help them set off all the fireworks, but we all run away before anyone can see who set them off.

Watching Umbridge try to get rid of the fireworks was quite possibly the best thing to ever happen. Her frustration and the fact that she looked completely incompetent was definitely enough to completely rid me of any remaining fog. I felt myself truly laugh, completely free now. George saw this and somehow his smile got even bigger. He pulled me in for a hug. We were both laughing too hard to do anything else. The best part was, none of the other teachers would help her. The whole day, firecrackers would explode in our classrooms. The teachers would just calmly ask a student to fetch Professor Umbridge.

The most iconic was definitely McGonagall who said, and I quote, "I would've gotten rid of them myself, but I'm not sure if I had the authority." I got detention because I couldn't stifle my laughter. The subtle sass from McGonagall mixed with Umbridge's continuing failed attempts were too much for me to handle. But I was okay with that.

Of course, the fun didn't last forever. The twins were leaving sometime this week. They knew it was only a matter of time before they were expelled from Hogwarts. The only reason they are still here is because Umbridge has no solid proof any of it was them. Of course, her "theories" are completely accurate, but she doesn't need to know that.

I helped them devise an escape plan. Since I had freed their brooms, it would be easy to summon them from their dorm where they were hidden. Of course, this had the added bonus of shock because Umbridge will realize she's had three random brooms locked up in her office for a few months. I knew this would get Harry into trouble, but he was fine with it once we tested the strength of my Transfiguration. Of course, if she used reparifage she would see it was actually a Nimbus 2001, taken from the Slytherin team instead of a Firebolt.

My nightmares were slowly coming back as I improved as well. I would still go down to the common room, but now sometimes I would sneak into bed with George. His body against mine was comforting. I would miss him so much when he left. But he had to go, and I had to stay. I would join him when I graduated. Fred, George, and I had already decided that we would move in together above their shop.

---

I was sitting in the common room with all my friends when George leaned over and whispered, "meet me here at 11pm. Bring some warm clothes." Strange request, but I agreed. I'm a curious person and I trust George with my life.

At 11 pm, I walked down to the common room to find George waiting for me. I tried to look cute, but gave up and instead wore sweatpants and a tank top with George's chudley cannons sweater over it.

"Ready?" He asked me.

"For anything" I replied.

He led me from secret passage to secret passage until we were outside the castle. Both of us were aware of how dangerous this was. But he was leaving soon, and I didn't have anything better to do. We quickly made our way over to the side of the Black Lake farthest from the castle. No patrols came out here. I saw a picnic blanket laid out with a bunch of food.

"Wow, George. Did you do this? It's amazing" I was careful to stay quiet. No one should be out here, but we couldn't be too cautious.

"I know the Black Lake is your favorite spot. I thought it would be a nice place to spend one of our last nights together."

"it's perfect."

I sat next to him and laid my head on his shoulder as we ate and drank. Eventually, we found our way onto our backs, looking up at the stars with my head on his chest.

"Do you have your camera?" George asked me.

"Of course. I transfigured it into a bracelet so I always have it with me."

"That's really smart." He took my camera and snapped a picture of us laying under the stars.

"You know, this reminds me of our semi-first unofficial date at the astronomy tower when we watched the sunrise." he said, stroking my hair.

"I use that memory when I'm making a patronus charm. I think I might add this one too." I say back.

"You're in almost every memory I use to create my patronus, Mags. I can't believe we're leaving soon and you're not coming with us. And I know you can't. I just don't know what it'll be like without you."

"I'm sure you'll be very busy with your shop. I want it completely ready and the talk of the town by the time I graduate. Or I will be very upset with you." I was tracing random shapes along his chest. It was so nice being in his arms.

"I love you, Mags." He said abruptly. I felt my heart race. I wasn't ready for this-we were only a few months into this relationship. Were we rushing it? I felt my face get hot. The silence was dragging on as I contemplated whether or not I loved him too. I could pretend I fell asleep! But that wouldn't work, I replied like 1 minute ago. "Mags, are you alright? I'm sorry if I said something wrong." I looked at his face. He really did love me. His calming touch, his humor, his fantastic presence. That did it for me.

"No, you didn't do anything wrong George. It's just the last time I said those words to someone in a romantic sense, I was completely wrong about their character."

"Oh, there's no rush I just-"

I cut him off with a kiss. Our thing, see. "But George. I have faith I haven't misjudged you. I love you too."

It was his turn to kiss me. We laid back down on the blanket as the kisses started becoming more passionate between us. We both wanted it. And while it was risky doing it out in the open when anyone could catch us, I thought it would be a pretty great going away present to remember me by. I started to take off his shirt.

"Are you sure?"

"Abso-fucking-lutely"

And with that, I had my new favorite night of all time.
