The Champions

After all my classes that day, the twins and I hurried excitedly down to the Great Hall, where the goblet of fire was standing before all the house tables. We sat down making bets on who it was going to be based on the rumors we had heard.

"3 galleons says Viktor Krum gets it" I said.

"You're on" George whispered. We proceeded to examine the Beauxbatons students, but before we could say anything Dumbledore interrupted us.

"May I have your attention. The Goblet of Fire is now ready to choose its champions!" Dumbldore's booming voice echoed throughout the great hall. The goblet turned red and out flew a piece of parchment.

"From Durmstrang, Viktor Krum!" The Durmstrang students all hollered and cheered, along with a majority of the Hogwarts and Beauxbatons students. He was a famous quidditch player.

"Fork 'em over" I said, turning to George, who rolled his eyes and gave me my money.

"Look at him. No one else could do it like him" I heard Ron say. The twins had told me about his obsession this summer at the quidditch world cup.

"Someone's in looooove" I heard Fred tease his little brother. George started making kissing noises from next to me. I laughed at their antics and saw Ron turn Weasley red. Luckily, the attention was quickly drawn back to the goblet.

"From Beauxbatons, Fleur Delacour!" The Beauxbatons students erupted in cheers as Fleur walked up to Dumbledore to shake his hand. Damn, she was pretty. I wish. I would be cheering for her if the Hogwarts champion was a boy. A lot of people think girls are weak, but Fleur beat out the rest of Beauxbatons students, including the boys. I'm glad she can prove those obnoxious, 16th century assholes wrong.

While clapping for Fleur, I saw Andre looking my way. I gave him a warm smile and a wave. He gestured to meet him outside later and I nodded my head.

"From Hogwarts, Cedric Diggory" The Hogwarts students drowned out everyone else as they started a CEDRIC CEDRIC chant. I think it's ironic how a Hufflepuff got it and not a Gryffindor, who are supposed to be oh so brave and courageous. Time for Hufflepuff to get some recognition. I cheered loudly for Cedric because we were friends. I didn't know him as well as I knew the twins or my dorm mates, but we got along well in the classes we had together.

We all thought it was over until the goblet turned red again. "Harry. Potter" Dumbledore said. I looked over at Harry. I didn't know the kid, but I had heard the legend and the twins had told me a little about his previous years at Hogwarts. He looked like he wanted to be anywhere else. Poor guy.

At that time Dumbledore began sprinting across the hall, jumping on the Hufflepuff table and kicking off all the plates. He then did a backflip off the table; I didn't realize the old man could do it. He sent a few spells every where, then did a breakdance on the Gryffindor table.

"HARRY" he yelled while pouring a pitcher of pumpkin juice on his head.

"DID YOU" He screamed, punching Draco Malfoy straight in the face. That kid is definitely knocked out.

"PUT YOUR NAME" He knocked the legs out from under a Ravenclaw before chucking a bench (with at least two kids still on it) across the hall.

"IN THE GOBLET" He sent a spell to the door that exploded upon impact. He then managed to execute a perfect round-off backhandspring to a double back.

"OF" He seemed to be summoning fire from the depths of hell.

"FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRE" He shouted, sending a fireball that burned a hole in the ceiling. Looking around, I seem to be the only one shocked at this behavior. Maybe I'm the only one who read the books. Also, no one seemed to realize that Harry wasn't in the great hall and had already made it into the room for champions. Hopefully Dumbledore mellowed out by the time he had to interact with Harry.

After the selection, I met up with Andre in the courtyard.

"Bonjour" He said

"Bonjour, Andre. What did you want to talk about?" I asked him.

"I just wanted a chance to get to know you better." He replied.

"Alright then, ask away. Quickfire style"

"Favorite class?"

"Potions. You?"

"Charms. Favorite season?"

"Fall. Right when all the leaves are changing color and you can dress in warm clothes and a light jacket without freezing your butt off."

"Mine is winter. I love the way the snow covers the ground and seems to mute everything. What's your most prized possession?"

"Probably the collection of photos I have. I like to remind myself of all the good times. What about you?"

"Er probably this jacket that I have. It used to belong to my grandfather, then my father, and now me."

"That's nice. What do you like to do for fun?" I asked him.

"I like to paint and travel. What about you?"

"I like to sing and play the guitar. Music has always been an outlet for me."

"What kind of music?"

I told him about muggle music and all my favorite bands and singers. It reminded me of when Rue and I would blast music in her room and just dance all the worries and everything away. He asked if I could share some with him later, and I agreed. It would be nice to share a little of the muggle world with someone.

"I like you." Andre said abruptly. "Will you go out with me? I heard there's a Hogsmeade trip this weekend"

"I would love to," I smiled at him. He walked me back to Gryffindor tower and I kissed him on his cheek before walking through the portrait hole. But this time it wasn't a friendly kiss like with George. This time I wanted to kiss him on the lips, but I decided it was best to save that for the first date.
