I walked up to Bill and Fleur's house, still using my crutches. I felt really bad-really bad-about interrupting the couple's honeymoon two days in. I guess it was technically three because the sun's rising. So not only am I coming unannounced, but at an insanely early hour. I knocked on the door.
I had just decided that I would sit on the porch until an acceptable hour when a tired looking Bill opened the door.
"Margaret? Is that you?" Bill asked.
"Yes, I'm so sorry for intruding like this I just-"
"Hold up. What was the last thing I said to you?" Bill cut me off. Of course. He needed to check if I was a death eater. I'm so dumb.
"You thanked me for being welcoming to Fleur because your family was kind of hostile. Then you talked about how beautiful she was. Then you were like 'you are the only girl in this family that seems to like Fleur even though you aren't officially part of this family we consider you family and it might be official sooner than you think.'" When I finished he wrapped me a giant hug. I was unable to hug back due to my crutches.
"Come inside. What happened to your leg? I'll let Fleur sleep in, but she'll be excited to see you. Everyone will." Bill said.
"Well, I apparated to some forest. I got splinched but was unable to heal it in time so now there's just a chunk of my leg missing. I was too weak to disapparate so I transfigured some rocks into these crutches. For two days I walked through that forest until I found a town. I survived off of random plants. It's pure luck that I'm not dead. Anyways, when I got to the town someone brought me in and let me make some potions to help and get me strong enough to come here." I told him.
"Wow. Why don't you go get a shower while I fix us some breakfast? It's down the hall on your left" Bill suggested. I probably need one. Not probably. Definitely.
"Alright. And do you have a cauldron and some ingredients? I want to see what I can do about this leg." I hobbled to the shower. In the shower, I thought about all the potions I know how to make. Right now, the wound was at a huge risk of infection if it isn't bandaged. I have to clean the wound a lot and replace all the bandages. Then I remembered a potion that grows skin back. i can't replace the flesh that I lost, but covering it in skin would let me focus on being able to walk again.
When I got out of the shower, Fleur was still asleep. I ate quickly and started making the potion.
"Once Fleur wakes up I'll go tell everyone else. They're all still at the Burrow so it should be easy." Bill said.
"Thanks, Bill. " I applied the potion to my leg. It worked, but it looked weird. There was nothing obviously wrong, but it just makes you uneasy until you look at it hard enough to realize my calves are different sizes.
"can you walk on it now," Bill asked me.
"No, I'll have to put myself through physical therapy. But I should be able to do a lot once I finish." But not everything, I thought. There was still some nerve damage.
Fleur woke up a few hours later. I still felt bad for waking Bill up so early, but he insisted he was fine. He went to go tell everyone that I was okay. I had a feeling George and Fred would be coming back with him.
