Happy Birthday Harry

Someone had brought me inside during the night. I woke up in George's bed, but he wasn't there. He must still be on the couch downstairs. I felt bad for storming out, so I went to go find him. It was obvious everyone else was asleep. I was slightly annoyed that the sleeping draught wore off so quickly, but then I remembered I probably was asleep a few hours before everyone else.

I saw George lying on the couch, fiddling with his bandages.

"You know, you really shouldn't touch those." I said announcing my presence.

"Glad to see you're awake. Unlike me. No one knew which potion they were allowed to give me, so I've hardly slept at all. But you seem to have been knocked out cold when they brought you in from the garden with an empty potions bottle by your side." He said. His tone was light, but underlying that was some concern and accusation.

"Oh shit. Sorry. Do you need some pain relief or a sleep draught? I can give those to you right now. And I'm sorry for storming out it just-nothing."

"tell me."

"No. now do you need some medical attention or what."

"I need attention, but not of the medical sort. Come here." He sat up and patted the space next to him. "Now what's going on?"

I leaned my head on his shoulder. "I just feel like it's my fault that Mad-eye is dead. If I had fought harder to be able to go, then Mundungus would've have been such a little bitch and gotten Mad-eye killed."

"Margaret, it is in no way, shape, or form your fault. You did fight incredibly hard to be able to go. But I would've cast the full body bind curse on you to prevent you from going. So would Fred. And Tonks. And Ginny. And probably everyone else if we asked them. There was no way in hell you were going."

"Why not?"

"because you're just as valuable to You-know-who as Harry. I sat by your bedside for almost two weeks watching you. Then another week after you first woke up before they had to knock you out again. I don't like it."

"Well, I got a taste of that last night. It's not fun."

"Well I heard from Fred you barely panicked and didn't even seem that concerned. I was kind of offended, actually. I could barely function when you were hurt."

"Oh please, you lost an ear but I managed to get it under control fairly easily. And I was panicked on the inside. But I'm a healer. It's my job to stay cool under pressure so that I can save lives."

"That's another thing. If you had gone, you might not have been here to save my life. And then we'd both be miserable. So, all in all don't you dare blame yourself, Margaret Hughes. You did nothing wrong." He kissed me on the top of my head, which always calms me down.

Harry was finally turning seventeen. There was a lot of preparation going on because the day after would be Bill and Fleur's wedding. They had graciously moved it to the Burrow so lots of people could attend. Of course, even though that was a very generous thing to do, some people thought it added more stress. I helped Molly in any way that I could. I helped set up tents, flowers, bake (I can't cook). But my number one job was what I call Fleur duty. Of course, it's the best because it's not actual work. But I'm an angel in Molly's and Ginny's eyes for getting Fleur out of their way.

We had a lovely dinner in the backyard for Harry's birthday with a massive golden snitch cake that I helped decorate. I actually really like baking. I had been getting into it more now. George, Fred, and I all got Harry a bunch of stuff from the joke shop plus a picture of the quidditch team from my last year. Of course, those three got kicked off after the first game. But it's the thought that counts.

No one had time to dwell on Harry's birthday because of the wedding. I got dragged away right after dessert to help Fleur with some last minute things. Bill kept thanking me for all my help. It was overwhelming. When I finally got some time off, I joined the twins.

"When I get married, I'm putting mum in a full body bind curse until it's over. Everyone can wear what they want and none of this will be going on." Fred said.

"Amen to that. I've been doing so much work for this wedding I feel like it's mine. When I get married, I want something less extravagant than this but more than Tonks and Remus. I'll want all my best mates as my bridesmaids and invite any friends I have. It won't be this much work to set up, that's for sure. I think the reception and amount of people will be like this one, but the wedding itself in terms of extravagance will be like Tonks'." I didn't notice George rub the inside of his pockets. Or the smile on his face as he looked at me.

"I'm exhausted, I'm going to sleep." I said.

"Want to sleep with me tonight?" George asked.

"I would love to, but I think someone needs to be with Ginny so she doesn't jump out the window at the thought of Fleur being officially part of this family."

"She has Hermione." George whined.

"You are largely underestimating both your sister's strength and desperation. Besides, I told Fleur I'd help her get ready and I told Molly I would be available for any extra set up tomorrow. It's going to a very busy day."
