Things went from bad to worse after the Burrow burned down. First, Ron got poisoned on his birthday. He's fine now, but that's not really a happy birthday. Then, there was some sort of death eater invasion of Hogwarts. There was a huge battle between order members and death eaters. Now Dumbledore is dead. Also, I'm quite offended that I wasn't invited to this battle. Neither were Fred and George. It seems like our induction into the order was more like 'we'll give you our information' and not 'doing important stuff that matters'. Like I have almost died twice because I was protecting Harry 'act on impulse' Potter, but I can't handle a fight?
When I confronted people about this, they had a million excuses. 'You're a healer, so you should stay behind to help with the injured. If you get hurt, what will we do?' is one of my personal favorites. The most common is 'you've almost died twice in the past year. It's not worth your life'. It's such BS.
But now wasn't the time to dwell on that. Because I'm at Dumbledore's funeral. I sat next to George, who didn't let go of my hand the entire time. It's scary to think that the greatest wizard in the world is now dead. He was the only one Voldemort feared. And now he's gone.
I was never a fan of Dumbledore. I have no doubt he was brilliant. But he was strange. He always kept things to himself until the worst possible moment or the last possible second. He likes to leave you to either figure it out or go insane trying to understand, then he comes in and was like oh yes I knew the answer to this since I was born. But waiting builds character, here you go!.
We were told Snape killed him, but I didn't think Snape would do that unless Dumbledore told him to. I saw Dumbledore's hand at order meetings. My guess is that he was dying, so he asked Snape to kill him to secure Snape's cover as Voldemort's right hand man. I know from experience that, for some reason, that cover is the most important in the world. He wasn't exactly doing much while I was being tortured.
The death of Dumbledore will mark a turning point in wizarding history. I can feel it. Voldemort is now uninhibited in his quest for power. I thought back to my weeks of torture at his hands. That could be my future. Everyone's future. I leaned my head on George's shoulder. A solemn expression on my face. Because the only certain right now, is that shit is about to get real.
