Witch-Walking

Moomin and Sniff have been very bored lately. They had nothing to do and it was always the same faces in Moomin Valley. So the group of friends decided to visit Alicia that today. It had been a while since they've seen her.

Moomin sat on the bridge, tossing stones into the river, as he waited for everyone. "Hi Moomin." He looked up when he heard someone greet him. "Hi Snufkin!" He greeted back.

"Would you like to go fishing?" Asked the mumrik. "The Hemulen said he saw a huge fish out there. He said it's a very rare kind of fish and also very tasty."

"I was thinking of going to visit Alicia. I haven't seen her for ages."

Snufkin hummed. "Now that you mention it, I haven't seen much of her either."

Moomin looked up at him. "We decided it was time we went over to play with her."

"Snufkin!" Little My yelled out as she ran towards them.

Snufkin looked down at her. "Hi Little My!"

"Are you coming to see Alicia too?" She asked.

"No I can't. I'm to busy."

"He's going fishing." Moomin told her.

The group of friends, minus Snufkin, walked through the Forest of Witches towards Alicia's house.

Sniff stuck close to Lulamoon, hoping for protection. "This forest certainly is scary."

"Then why you come along scaredy cat?" Asked Little My.

"I thought being scared was better than being bored all the time but now I'm not so sure." There was loud cry from a nearby crow and Sniff screamed and clung to the witch's arm.

"For goodness sake, Sniff! It was just a bird!"

"This is a stupid idea! Who'd wanna walk through here just to play with Alicia when she can come to us?!"

"You can go back, Sniff." Lulamoon told him. "There's nothing stopping you."

"That's mean!" Sniff exclaimed making her eyes widen in shock. "You'd know I'd get lost if I tried to find my own way home!"

She tilted her head in confusion. 'But even been walking in a straight line.'

Snorkmaiden suddenly shushed them. "I can hear footsteps! Someone's coming!"

Suddenly a blur rushed past them and suddenly stopped in from of Lulamoon and Sniff. Sniff screamed and fell over.

"Oh! I'm so sorry! I was going so fast, I nearly ran into you!" It was Alicia who had been speeding through the forest. She turned to everyone else. "Hello everyone! Where are you all going?"

"We were just on our way to visit you!" Lulamoon said with a beaming smile on her face. "And you have something to tell us, don't you? Come on! I saw what you just did!"

Alicia giggled. "The moon smiles!" She was finally able to say. Her grandmother had explained that it was a greeting between witches.

"And the stars greet you!" Lulamoon finished a squeal and hugged her friend. "Oh congratulations! I'm so proud of you!"

Alicia puffed up at the praise. The medic was leagues ahead of her after all. She turned to the others who looked greatly confused. "I've finally become a witch!"

The others joined in the cheers.

"Oh! I have something very special to show you!"
