Location: Garreg Mach MonasteryOnly monks were around, you only really wanted to use the bathroom and now you had ended up lost. The small green haired girl had vanished and she was your only hope in getting back to Henry and the others.
Perhaps exploring was an option? Not one monk looked in the mood to speak with you as they seemed too busy decorating the place, and this place had fantastic architecture to decorate. The bathroom was a hidden door that blended in with the arched stone walls, so when you walked out it must have shocked a few with the sudden movement of the wall.
Your heeled boots managed to lead you to a graveyard. Not a soul was there which made it the perfect time for you to collect your thoughts. This place was huge, and you were alone for the time being which threw in major anxiety. Assassins could be anywhere, not that they would have a reason to kill you yet.
"Hello."
You shot your head right around in shock, you didn't even hear footsteps- let alone two. As you blinked a few times you saw a small girl with white hair and lilac eyes stand sturdily, behind her was a very tall and built man-around your own age, black wavy hair and apple green eyes to match. They did look the pair, if it was anyone normal, they might have been intimidated.
"Oh, Hello. I didn't hear any footsteps following me." You spoke clear, not a jolt nor wave in your words, much to Hubert's disappointment.
"Not much of a warrior princess then, are you?" A snarky comment from a snake like man.
'Seems fitting', you thought. The smaller girl remained silent."So you know who I am?" Your brows raised in surprise, he was good. Almost as good as Henry.
"Educated guess more like. However, the pin on your armour gives it away at sight." The white haired girl spoke up this time, raising her dainty hand to silence the man behind her as he opened his thin lips again. You peered down at the royal crest that was pinned firmly to part of the only fabric you were wearing, scrunching your nose up at the emblem.
"You have a good eye. I'm impressed." your arms folded and you planted a smug grin onto your lips. Noticing the man staring at your expression very intently, you continued your sentence. "Does there happen to be a pin on my face too, sir?" The smug grin you held soon transitioned into a sly smirk as the white haired girl peered up to see what you were talking about.
Hubert's gaze quickly moved to the wall on his left, not quite sure on how to answer your question, he ignored it. Hoping Edelgard would take care of it for him.
"Heh, you two are decent so it seems." This was your time to 'make friends' and so you jumped and grasped it with both hands.
"Decent..?" The white haired girl blinked a few times, implying you left her speechless too.
"Yes. Level headed, perhaps this place isn't so bad after all." You stepped forward to the girl, ignoring the man's increasing hostility at the thought of you getting closer.
"I'm ___, you already know my title so skip the formalities." a gloved hand reached out, a cunning smile painted from ear to ear and a charm it seems this white haired girl couldn't resist.
"Edelgard. And this is Hubert." She took your hand with her own, also gloved. The man just stared, his lips thinning along with his eyes.
"Nice to meet you. I'm afraid you'll have to guide me back to the meeting area however. I'm quite lost." You silently took into account that this was the Edelgard you read up about. The next Empress of the Adrestian Empire. The name Hubert ,however, didn't ring a bell.
"Of course. Follow me." There was something about this girl that drew you in more, there was something hiding deep down that you had to find out. It seemed that Hubert guy would be a task though.
* * *
You followed the pair through what seemed like a maze of halls and paths, but eventually you were in a courtyard of some sort, highly populated with youngsters wearing similar uniforms as the two beside you. That's when you noticed a very concerned Henry leaving a group of people and heading right for you, his long arms flailing about.
"How long did it take for you to use the bathroom? And why did you make friends wile you were there?" Henry hinted to the duo stood to your right, shifting his eyes twice.
"I got lost. That odd girl just left me so I tried to find my way back." You frowned, not enjoying his fretting whilst in front of Edelgard and Hubert. Especially Hubert, who's eyes were on daggers aiming on your back.
Henry sighed and folded his arms, he reached a height that was taller than Hubert's which made you somewhat proud.
"Well I guess we best alert our knights. Oh-and thank you for aiding her highness." He bowed lightly as a sign of gratitude before turning to you again. "Do you want the good news or the bad news?" He frowned at you.
Well that didn't sound promising, it seemed Edelgard and Hubert weren't budging either so you went along with it.
"The bad news then."
"You have to choose a house. From what I actually payed attention to, there's three. The Blue, Yellow and Red house. Each has different kids from different parts of Fodlan and has a different professor too." Henry blurted all of this out in a matter-of-fact tone. He seemed quite proud of himself for actually remembering trivial information such as this.
"Well then. As you'll be studying with me, what are your thoughts?" you asked, whenever one of you would speak, Edelgard and Hubert would move their heads to focus on who was speaking. It didn't bother you, but it seemed like you should at least introduce Henry at this stage.
"Well. From viewing the people, I think the Red house for me-Blue for you." He then looked over and continued, "Oh, and I'm Henry by the way. Her Highness' retainer and self proclaimed best friend." Henry bowed again.
"My best friend is most certainly not you, Henry." you butted in before he could get away with that cheeky comment to these new people.
"Rude." He pouted, but you both knew it was a lie.
"Why the blue house for me?" completely forgetting the other two again you re-entered the conversation.
"From years of examination, I have reason to believe the head of house is just your type."
"Dimitri?" Edelgard spoke up with a slight shock to her tone.
"If that's the tall blonde guy with blue eyes then yeah!" Henry beamed, knowing in a few moments he was to be skinned.
You just stood there, not sure what to say. But from description you kind of wanted to see what he looked like..
"Well, it seems Hubert has some competition." It was clear she wasn't used to making jokes like that, but either way she got the reaction she wanted from said Hubert.
"Lady Edelgard! Please refrain from making such comments." He nearly growled his response if it wasn't for her being his liege.
"Yes...I think I'd rather this Dimitri boy at this point." You rolled your eyes at the thought of a love triangle between the three of you.
"Lady ___, I didn't know you were on the look out for love! How interesting." Henry seemed to be bubbling at the thought of him being able to play matchmaker.
"NO." You frantically tired to restore order in this highly awkward conversation. You didn't dare make eye contact with Hubert to save your life. "Perhaps we join the yellow house?" you suggested, looking behind Henry at the group stood by the guy in a yellow sash.
"That seems like a Ernest choice~." Henry knew being in the same class as your younger brother would instantly make you change your mind. Ernest was far too clingy.
"Fine. The red house it is then. You win Henry." And with that you left the small group you had formed, heading to Rhea. A woman who seemed wiser beyond her years and your main interest in this 'mission'.
