Please read my comments at bottom :)

It was dark and gloomy outside, you twisted and turned in your shared bed, the sickening feeling growing and growing each day- Manuela told you that it would be gone by the second month but alas it was a week before the wedding and you were still wishing to upchuck each meal eaten.

"Can't sleep?" Hubert raised himself so he was on his elbows, trying to find yor eyes in the darkness of the room, his shadow was refelcted on the wooden planks below the bed.

"Nope." Your turned around, looking up and just seeing the dark frme of his floppy hair hanging over his face. "Will you hold me?" Tugging his arms you pulled him down towards you, like a blanket he wrapped both arms around you and now of course his future child.

"I'm still so shocked that we're having a baby." Hubert mumbled into your hair, hand rubbing your stomach gently. "I love you both, so much." His words were slow due to him being so tired  but you understood them all the same.

"The war is gaining closer to an end too." You whispered, placing your warm hands on his. "Soon we will be living together with our little petal."

"Mmm, they'll be as perfect as you, I pray they don't get any genes of mine." He chuckled lightly, "I can't wait to wake up to you each morning and be able to spend the whole day with you. No war meetings, no battles, no documents to file and sign." Hubert now ran a hand to you hair, pulling it behind your ear so he could lean over and kiss your soft cheek.

"You make my heart melt." You sighed as he kissed your face over and over, sleepy Hubert was so more loving and giving. "Promise me to be careful in the next battle? I cannot raise this child alone, my love."

"I promise, my ram." Hubert rested his head on the pillow above your own head, both of you falling asllep together in eachothers arms. It was blissfull.

"____, I'd like to talk to you about something." Edelgard asked to see you the following morning and so you meeted her for tea and breakfast alone in what previously was the Archbishop's room.

"What's wrong El?"You took a sip from the tea, it was warm and soothing- easing your aching bones. The ones that ached from carrying another being inside you.

"Well, I wanted to ask you that once the war has ended, will you please take care of Hubert? Make sure he stays with you in Nestra and doesn't worry too much about Adrestia? I have the professor after all." Her red glove brushed off a crumb on her cheek, you both loved to indulge in cakes once alone. "I need to know he has a life of his own."

"Of course! I actually had a request of my own..." You trailed off, knowing full well that Hubert would be pre-occupied with a new child and a royal status once the war was over.

"Oh? What is it?" She asked, leaning in with concern at your words, white hair not moving an inch under her pure golden crown.

"El, you're such a close friend now. I would love it if you would be the baby's godmother, if you so wish of course." You sounded almsot scared to ask but in genual you were terrified she didn't see you as being that close of a friend and would be forced to be some childs godmother.

Edelgard's mouth hung agape in awe, her violet eyes welled up as she scooted off the hard chair to wrap her small, red armourd arms around you, the hard plates digging into your back.

"Of course! I'd love to be, I'll be the worlds best godmother I swear! Do you know who Hubert is choosing as the Godfather?" Edelgard relased you slightly but she was still close to you, her eyes looking at the small bump growing in your stomach.

"He's torn between the Professor and Ferdinand." It was a tough choice, either way one would be best man and the other would be godfather. "I think deep down he wishes Ferdinand to be both Godfather and Best man, however he knows he owes the professor a great deal."

"It's a hard choice, I agree. But Ferdiand has known him for many many years, the professor however has saved me and you alike. It's challenging." Edelgard sat back down, violet eyes still puffy from what you asked of her, the rest of the room was silent, the guards didn't move an inch from their stations.

"I can't make the choice for him, but I know we must honour the professor somehow. Dorothea is to be my Maid of Honour, before the baby it was going to be you but I had to chose you for this." You smilled softly, the plates around you were empty as you and the Emperor had eaten each cake put on the fine china. Both knowing well enough not to tell Hubert about such a deed incase he held his own heart attack.

"Thank you. It means so much to have a glimmer of happiness such as this in a war." Edelgard sighed, "___, please look out for yourself, stay off the front lines for a few months, until the baby is born." She knew you'd say no, but it was worth the try.

"You know I can't do such a thing. Although, the Nestrian army is at yours and the Professors disposal." It was a thought, Henry was a skilled warrior indeed he could take your place. "Hm, why not replace my status with Henry? I understand he's not on Hubert's good terms considering what he did with our letters- but he's a fine fighter."You ran a hand through your hair.

That was all too true, Hubert didn't like the man, he took you from him and sent him into a pit of darkness for over a year. That darkness made him realise how much he needed you and loved you. The tears he shed was abnormal for any human ever.

"I have yet to see him in combat since the five years, I'll take your word for it though. Thank you, my dearest friend." There was something ekse hiding behind that smile of her, Edelgard hovered over her words for a moment before taking in a lung full of air, "I love you dearly."

"I love you too, I hope we're to be connected through life until we both leave this world." You stood up, "I must be getting back, wedding planning and all that." You placed a gloved hand on her sholder giving her one last smile and a gentle shake.

"I shall see you tomorrow. Thank you for endulging again with me." Edelgard stayed sitting once you left, thinking to herself on the future, Brigid and the Empire were allies and now so was Nestra. Fodlan really was looking good, soon all the bad deeds of Rhea and the Goddess will be no more.
