Knocking on the door woke you instead of the bright light from your window, a pain ran through your head and entire body for that matter; as you sat up in bed- eyes adjusting to its surroundings.

"Lady ___, it is time to get ready." Frankie called from the other side of your door, no doubt it was around six in the morning and along with you- Hubert rose from his slumber too, hair messy and eyes thinner than usual.

"Yes okay." you groaned, pinching the bridge of your nose and relaxing at the touch of Hubert's hand rubbing your back.

"Already?" He mumbled, blinking. "I seem to be hating this man even more."

"I'm afraid so." Swinging your legs from the side of the bed you let them dangle slightly, "You know I would stay here if possible."

"Of course I do. Don't worry." Hubert collapsed back down, allowing the pillow to engulf his head. His green eyes following your every move, from getting out of the bed in not much clothing to dressing yourself in full gear and fixing your bed-head.

"Will you be staying there?" You were fully dressed, ready to leave and stood by the door.

"No, I wish to see you off...but." He paused, slipping his arms through his old shirt hanging at the bottom of your bed. "I feel it would not be wise for myself if I did so."

"You don't have to. Just a simple kiss goodbye will do." You smiled- taking his shoes from your door and handing them to him.

"Don't be absurd, I'm coming." Hubert took both shoes and put them on as fast as he could, "Hand me your bag."

Hubert could be so loving and caring when he wanted to be, such a contrast to the 'love' he was showing last night. But then again, last night he didn't have to say goodbye to you.

* * *

It was still early, classes would be starting soon and no matter how much you wished to say goodbye to everyone you know it would hurt you more. Once reaching the reception hall, you met up with Ernest- Claude had agreed to see him off in the morning; something you thought was rather unusual for the strategist to do.

"So it's true." Claude grinned, folding his arms over his chest "You two really are...you know." he waved a tanned hand at Hubert and you.

"Yes. We all know- please don't remind me." Ernest rolled his eyes at the sight of Hubert entering through the door behind you- holding your last bag with ease under his arm.

"Heh, alright small-fry." Claude liked to use names such as that on the younger students in his house, however Ernest was almost taller than him and hardly looked as young as Ignatz or Lysithea.

"Why did I agree to let you come with me?" The young Prince just wanted leave at this point, according to rumors this black haired servant was doing more than carrying his sisters bags.

"Nestie, don't be like that." You knew your brother didn't like Hubert, with all his might he wanted Hubert to disappear out of your life, he felt that this man could not be trusted.

"It's fine." Hubert plainly stated, handing your bag to a Nestrian soldier- turning to you, "When do you depart?"

"I'd say around ten minutes, I wish it were longer." Frowning, you took a step towards Hubert, ignoring the puking face Ernest was making to Claude.

Out of spite, Hubert cupped your cheek and leaned down, kissing your lips tenderly and slowly. "No need to pout." He chuckled, returning to his menacing appearance.

Hubert had come to the conclusion that he wanted to show his love for you in front of others, to flaunt how lucky he was to have you as his- all while managing to terrify each and every person he comes into contact with. That way- in his eyes, Hubert felt he could petrify each enemy of Edelgard and protect and love you while doing so.

"___ did you slip something in Hubert's coffee?" Claude started, amused at how Hubert could love another more than his liege. It was quite uncomfortable to even hear about his affections to you- never mind witness it first hand.

Perhaps he could have a little fun with that, seeing as you would be a perfect target to reach Hubert's core. Claude wanted to spice things up a bit and see how far Hubert would really go before he snapped.

"Don't be silly, Claude." You shook your head, smiling.

"I bet Dimitri isn't taking this well, did you say goodbye to him?" The future alliance leader looked from you to Hubert, still nothing. Not even a blink from them snake eyes of his. "Oh, or was it 'Dimi' that you call him?"

You hadn't thought about Dimitri, sure you had gotten close as friends and he would make sure you were happy- but was it right for you to say goodbye? Were you that close?90

"No matter Claude, I'll write to him." You concluded, as if a light bulb went off above your head.

"I'll make sure he doesn't miss you too much. Safe travels." The boy sung you all farewell, a sly wink aimed at Hubert- still not getting the results he wanted. Best to try harder next time.

"Let's go, ___." Ernest looked ahead at the doors meters away from him.

"I will be right there." Turning to Hubert you exhaled, resting your head on his chest and breathing in the calming scent lingering on his worn shirt.

"Goodbye, Doomsday." You hummed, matching your breathing to his. "Don't go back to mean Hubert."

"I'm always 'mean Hubert'." maintaining such a pained gaze with you, "It just lessens when I'm around thee."

"I guess that will do." You laughed, a toothy laugh.

"I...love you, ___. "

"I love you too Hubert- I'll see you after the coronation."
