AGNES'S POV

"So? How was the whole internship?"

"I was a complete mess."sagot ko kay Jam.

We were both staying at my condo unit. She was free for the afternoon and I needed someone to talk to about what happened. Uminom akong tubig.

"Bakit?"

"Do you remember Pat?"

"Patricia Lasaten? Yung magaling mag-piano na crush mo na kaibigan ni Nicole?"

"Yes yung magaling mag-piano na crush ko."

"O what about her? Don't tell me you're still obsessing with her after she has graduated. Last year pa yun di ba?"

"Well. I was at the internship and she happens to work there."

"Wow. Could you imagine that? After a year? Nagkita ulit kayo. Wow. Alam mo friend, maybe the universe is trying to tell you something."sabi ni Jam.

"I think, the universe is telling me to focus on studying."

"Ang boring naman ng sinasabi ng universe mo sayo."sabi niya tapos natawa siya.

"But seriously Agnes. Like imagine. I swear pag nagmeet pa ulit kayo ni Pat after nyang internship mo, then maybe siya na."

"Sira. In what alternate universe will a Patricia Lasaten ever fall for an Agnes Reoma?"

"Who knows? Maybe it's this one."

"Alam mo, I still wonder kung anong nagustuhan mo sa kanya. I mean, she's pretty, yes and I do agree. But she's just so.. so..."

"Intimidating?"

"I was looking for masungit, but yeah we can go with that."

"Alam mo magaling kasi siya kaya siguro siya intimidating. I mean when you're that good, you can be intimidating."

"Bakit may mga magagaling naman na hindi intimidating? Tingnan mo ikaw."

"Hindi naman ako magaling."

"Sus. Running for laude tapos hindi magaling, anong tawag mo sa 'kin?"

"As if naman hindi ka rin laude. Tigilan mo nga ako Josephine Amelia."

I took another bite. I smiled at the thought of her. She really was intimidating. Even for the first time that I met her. Especially when I finally really met her.

"Pero seriously Agnes, ang tagal na nun. After what, a year and a half?"

"She's just... there's so many layers to her alam mo yun? Like there's always something new that you discover each time."

"Eh you never talked to her. Except nung recital lang naman ah."

"But you know what Jam, I just learned na we've had an encounter before. Pwede pala yun 'no? Yung magustuhan mo yung tao over a memory from several years ago?"

"Ha? Anong several years ago?" I just smiled.
