I woke to the sound of small feet shuffling around the room. I slowly opened my eyes seeing a blurred figure in front of the bed, rubbing my eyes with the back of my hand I sat up to see clearly.
Louis stood on top of his 'bed', his chest bare with his shirt in his hand and his pants sagged just enough to see the top of his boxers, "Morning" I said more like a question trying to keep my eyes on his face.
"Good morning" he smiled as he walked out the door putting his shirt on on his way out.
I shook my head away from starubg at the door, running my fingers through my hair.
I looked to the window, having my vision focus to the bright light coming through the glass. Pulling the black fabric that barely draped over my arm over my shoulder, I remembered I had put on Harry's shirt last night. The shirt was too large for me, but it was so much more comfortable than anything I had.
I continued to stare out the window, beginning to see the soft greyness of the sky.
I light knocking at the door caught my attention, I looked over my shoulder seeing Liam standing by the door frame with a porcelain plate in his hand.
"I made breakfast, figured I'd bring it up for you"
I gave him a small smile, shuffling to the edge of the bed. He handed me the the plate of scrambled eggs with sausage, and a fork that he had in his other hand.
I thanked him as he sat on the corner of the bed, "You went to sleep early last night" he spoke as I brought a forkful of food to my mouth.
I shrugged chewing on my breakfast.
"I heard you crying last night, Vanessa. Do you want to talk about it?"
I sighed, setting my utensil on the edge of the plate, "I just...had a rough night" I explained.
"Is that why you're wearing Harry's shirt?"
I looked down to the black over-sized shirt that hung from the grooves on my body, "How do you know its Harry's?" I asked him.
"Who else do you know owns nothing but black shirts?" Liam said trying to grab my eyes contact, failing, "And it's a little big, don't you think?"
I looked back down to my food, beginning to eat again.
"How was it?" he asked, "Seeing him again?"
I shrugged; feeling that small, anxious pain in my chest.
"An inch of me had sweaty palms and a racing heart of excitement for seeing his face again" I explained, "But another inch of me wanted him gone, felt the pain that followed him everywhere"
I felt Liam's eyes on mine, urging for me to continue.
"I don't know" I sighed "Have you ever been so tangled in emotions that you don't even know if it's anger or sadness you're feeling at that moment?"
He nodded, not speaking a word and now avoiding my gaze.
From all this time, I've never known Liam to be the kind to cry a lot. I've never seen him shed a tear for anything other than our dad or mum.
So for him to tell me that he has felt these emotions I'm experiencing, it gets to me.
We stayed silent, the thoughts of our mum and dad running through my mind. Our mum was that afraid of our father. Then I remembered, I haven't told Liam.
I looked up at him, instantly knowing he was thinking of mum or dad. I looked as his lip slowly quivered and his eyebrows furrowed in sadness.
"Li" I spoke up setting the plate of food down and bringing my hand to his arm.
