~ Harry's _ POV +
Nothing happened.
After we stopped swaying, she pulled at my shirt and I her's. But nothing happened. I just slept, every so often she would turn her head to meet her lips with mine whilst we were spooning and I would tighten my grip around her to make sure she was still there. But her on top of me, her hands on either side of my head as she leaned down to nibble at my neck.
My hands did roam, but I didn't let myself get carried away. It wasn't the time.
"Why did you go?" I asked, "To the prison?"
"He's my dad, Harry"
"He's dangerous"
"It was selfless" she defended shifting under my arm.
"It was idiotic" I said having her turn to her other side to face me.
"I was with Liam"
"Did he go in with you?"
She waited, "No"
I rolled my eyes sitting up, "Vanessa, what if something happened whilst you were in there?"
"There were guards, Harry you're treating me like a child" she sighed when I didn't respond, "I don't want to start an argument" she looked up at me from under my arm which was draped over her waist.
I didn't say anything, I just watched as she bit her bottom lip.
"Remember when I said I didn't care that I wasn't going to see Josie again?" I said looking at the pale wall.
"Yeah"
"I do, I care. Anna told me she didn't want me with her anymore"
"She can't do that" Vanessa said sitting up on her elbow, "Can she?"
"She's her mother Ness"
"You're her father" she fired raising her eyebrows.
"Vanessa..."
"Harry, I know you feel uncomfortable about it but genetically you're her father"
"But I have no legal claim over Josie, Vanessa. She's not my daughter so I just have to deal with it and move on"
We both got quiet, she lied back down on my arm where I traced my fingers over her tattoo.
"Which book did the quote you told me last night come from?" she spoke up playing with her hair.
I stood up having her hand drag over my bare chest and began scavenging through the untouched box of books (mostly Vanessa's), taking out the familiar blue book, and walked back to her handing it over.
Sitting up she took it from my hands and reading its description aloud:
" 'Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that had bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel's story is about to be completely rewritten' "
She said in her best narrator voice making me snicker, "You're such a dork"
She giggled examining the pages of the book, "I would never have seen you as a guy who would read this kind of book"
I shrugged, "It's your The Tale of Despereaux to me" I explained, "Except I haven't had it since birth"
She rolled her eyes with a smile, "You should read it" I said.
