I sighed as laid awake in bed. It was morning and everything was still quiet in the house, telling me that Jimmy was still asleep. I wrapped myself further in the blankets on the bed for a last surge of warmth before I had to get up and feel the cool air of the house on my skin.

When I got up, I looked through my suitcase to find something to wear. I changed into some black jeans and my gold beast t-shirt. I pulled my hair up into a ponytail and looked over my reflection in the mirror. I don't like what I see when I look in the mirror, ever, but I wish there was a way to get myself to point where I didn't hate what I saw. What I see is me, and I wish I didn't hate it.

"Hey," Jimmy smiled at me as he knocked once on my bedroom door and opened it, "you're up early."

"The sun woke me up," I shrugged, "how'd you sleep?"

"I slept good, what about you?" Jimmy asked as he sat on my bed.

"I slept alright," I nodded.

"Are you okay?" Jimmy asked, "you seem not really okay."

"I'm not," I shook my head, "it's the whole we're going to the cemetery thing. It's been a while since I've gone to see my parents."

"Does it make it better if you go alone instead of me going with you?" Jimmy asked.

"No, actually you going with me is better, reminds me that I'm not always alone," I shrugged, "it's just weird. It's like every time I go to the cemetery I'm fourteen and I'm sitting in the hallway of the hospital again."

"I know," Jimmy sympathized, "is there anything you want to do after that could make you feel better?"

"No, I think just staying here and having a chill day is all I need," I smiled.

"And that is exactly what we'll do. Later I will call the guys and tell them to bring pizza," Jimmy promised, "and sushi. And we'll just hang out here."

"Thank you," I sighed as I wrapped my arms around Jimmy.

"You're my best friend. I would do anything for you," Jimmy smiled.

We walked downstairs together and I started to make us breakfast. Jimmy made breakfast yesterday, so it's my turn. He opened his home to me, it's the least I can do.

After we ate, Jimmy grabbed our plates and cleaned them before he placed his arm around my shoulders and we left the house together. I was shaky on the ride, feeling more anxious than always. They're my parents and I talk to them all the time, but it feels like this will be different because it's been so long.

"You ready?" Jimmy asked.

"Yeah," I nodded.

Jimmy reached into the backseat and grabbed the flowers we picked up on the way over here and handed them to me. The walk from his car to where they were was short, as we watched the ground to make sure we were stepping around the other headstones.

"Hey Mr. and Mrs. M," Jimmy smiled as he sat down in the grass in front of their headstone, "it's good to see you."

I stayed silent as I unwrapped the flowers and placed them in the vase that was connected to the headstone before I sat down next to Jimmy.

"Hey mom, hi dad," I sighed as I looked at the names engraved on the plaque, "I'm sorry my visits have been less frequent than they used to be. I'm staying with Jimmy for the week for my birthday, and I swear he's exactly the same as he was in high school."
