"Ava," Jimmy called through my door, "are you awake?"
"Yeah," I called back to him weakly.
Jimmy opened the door and walked in, jumping onto the bed and wrapping his arms around me.
"You excited for today, it's photoshoot day," Jimmy smiled widely.
"I don't know that I'm excited," I laughed.
"Well you should be," Jimmy laughed, "Tareq's excited, and I'm pretty sure he recruited some help. He told me that you should bring extra stuff to wear so you're not in the exact same thing in every photo."
"I will," I nodded, "are you coming too?"
"No, I have a lunch date with Maddy and she's helping me with some birthday details for you," Jimmy smiled, "but I'll be here when you get back."
I nodded, enjoying this moment of laying with Jimmy. I have never looked at Jimmy in a romantic kind of way, he's like my brother, and he's literally the only family I have. I've missed moments like these, and these moments make me consider moving back all the time.
"What are you thinking about?" Jimmy asked.
"My parents," I answered honestly.
"Do you miss them?" Jimmy asked.
"Everyday," I admit, "but I have you, you're my family, Jim."
"Is there anything I can do about you missing your parents?" Jimmy offered.
"Not unless you can reverse the past and bring them back," I laughed dryly, "but no, just being here is more than enough."
"Let me know if you think of anything I can do though," Jimmy smiled.
"Tomorrow, I don't know if you have anything planned, but I want to go to the cemetery," I spoke carefully.
"Okay," Jimmy agreed, "after breakfast tomorrow I'll take you."
"You don't have to take me, I can go alone," I protested.
"I want to go with you, I haven't seen James and Lily in a while," Jimmy insisted, "now get up and get ready, you have to leave to meet up with Tareq in just over an hour."
Jimmy laughed as I sighed, getting up and leaving my room. I rolled out of bed and went to take a shower. I sighed happily at the feeling of the burning water against my skin. One of the only times I ever feel relief from my icy predisposition is in a moment like this, and I like to savor them.
After my shower, I looked through my suitcase to find some clothes to wear. I grabbed some dark red skinny jeans that had rips in them with a lace bralette and sheer long sleeve shirt. I looked in the mirror and decided I was happy with how I looked. Well not happy, but satisfied enough. I finished off my outfit with my black vans and quickly dried my hair, leaving it straight and down like it is naturally. Quickly, I threw on some makeup, some winged liner and mascara and some clear lipgloss. I can have fun with my makeup when I want to get done up, but I'm not feeling that today.
"Ava! Breakfast is done if you're hungry!" Jimmy called up to me.
I grabbed my bag that had a few spare changes of clothing in it and made my way downstairs with my phone in my hand. Jimmy smiled at me before he handed me a plate of pancakes.
"Thank you," I smiled as I started eating.
"You're welcome," Jimmy smiled.
He sat next to me, eating his own breakfast before he looked at the clock and snatched my plate away.
