__________

This morning I had to go to campus to get my books. Classes start in just over a week and I don't have my textbooks yet; one of the worst things about college. Because as if thousands of dollars in tuition wasn't enough, you have to buy hundreds of dollars in books that you'll maybe open three times all semester. College is a business first, and about the actual education second.

Honestly, I should've already gone to campus to get my books days ago, but it's hard for me to walk through campus. I get a sick feeling in my stomach every time I see the tan buildings with the hall names printed on the outside. The only thing campus will ever be to me is the place I was raped. Unfortunately. You know, I actually really liked this school before that happened. I enjoyed my teachers and my classes and I would sit outside in the grass to do homework in my downtime. And then he ruined it all. Just because he can't understand the word no.

I took a deep breath after I parked my car. I was in a space that was as close to the bookstore as I could get. Using my keys, I tucked one key between each of my fingers with the pointy part out. I don't trust fucking anybody, not on this campus, and I am taking no chances today.

I walked quickly into the bookstore, thankfully finding it basically empty. I went up to the desk and waited for the woman to finish whatever she was doing before she turned to me.

"What can I do for you?" She asked politely.

"I need my purchase my textbooks," I informed her as I grabbed the list of my classes and their materials out of my pocket.

She took my information and went to grab the books for me from where they kept them behind the counter. I wonder when graduation applications are due. I need to submit one this semester so I can finally be done.

"Is there anything else I can help you with?" The woman asked as scanned the barcodes of each of my books.

"Actually do you know when graduation applications are due for the winter ceremony?" I asked.

"I believe there's a flyer for it on the bulletin board on your way out," she smiled.

"Thank you."

I paid for my books and thanked the woman one more time, before I turned with my books and my keys still pressed between my fingers. I looked at the bulletin board on my way out, finding a flyer for graduation. With my books and the flyer, I quickly got back to my car. Once I was safely locked inside, I finally loosened my grip around my keys. My fingers were completely white from how tight I was holding onto my keys.
