Peter POV:

I stood up abruptly, shocked to see Tony Stark for a fourth time today, and let alone in my room. What was he doing here?

"You-your the.. Wait what? You can't be Sp-" Mr. Stark started to say, but I rushed forward and covered his mouth. Closing the door, I carefully removed my hand.

"No, no, no, I'm not." I stammered. "I'm not Spider-Man." My voice went a little high pitch at the end.

"Oh really?" Mr. Stark said, starting to freak out. "I put a tracker on 'your' suit and it says it's here!" He whispered yelled, and I went pale.

"I said I don't want any part with you or S.H.I.E.L.D!" I tried to keep my voice down.

"Why not! What did they ever do to you?!" He exclaimed, and then I remembered something from last night. I walked over to the wall opposite from my bed and picked up the small round camera. I turned it over and the logo of an egal was printed on the back. It was too small for most people to see, but I wasn't most people. It was, and as far as I could tell, the S.H.I.E.L.D logo.

"Well first thing, I think they're spying on me." I said, handing Mr. Stark the camera. This time Mr. Stark went a little pale.

"And second, well, if you work with them I think you know." I said, trying not to look at the billionaire for fear I might start crying again. Then Mr. Starks's face took on the look of someone sympathetic, and I hated it when people felt bad for me. What happened happened, and it's all in the past. Nothing could change that.

"Look, what happened wasn't S.H.I.E.LD's fault. It was Hydras." Mr. Stark said.

"Whos?" I asked.

"Hydras a secret evil organization that's been around since World War 2." He said this like it was basic logic. "Now, you didn't let me finish. S.H.I.E.L.D. They want to know who Spider-Man is so they can make sure he doesn't do anything stupid. And then maybe eventually recruit him to join the Avengers." He finished and chuckled when he looked at me, because the look on my face was probably priceless.

"M-me... an Avenger?" I stammered.

"I mean yeah, maybe." Mr. Stark said.

"Wait, are you going to have to tell S.H.I.E.L.D about me now?" I asked. "About my secret?"

"Well, I think that's it's your decision to tell them." Mr. Stark replied. "And for the record, I didn't want to track you down, but most of the time I listen to what Fury says or I'll lose my job." He scoffed.

"Who's Fury?" I asked.

"Oh, well I think you'll meet him soon enough." Mr. Stark said.

"Why?" I asked again.

"Because he's been monitoring you and he'll know why we talked." He said, and I wasn't sure if I wanted to meet this Fury guy.

"Where?" I questioned.

"Follow me," Mr. Stark replied. "We're leaving." He started walking out of my room, but I didn't follow.

"What's wrong?" He asked me when he realized I wasn't behind him.

"I can't leave without reason. So either you're going to adopt me or were jumping out that window." I pointed behind me.

"Ok then. I guess we're jumping." Mr. Stark said, and I couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. I had half hoped that Tony Stark would adopt me, but I knew that would never happen in a million years.

I opened the window and leaped out, though Mr. Stark was a little less graceful. He jumped out, and must have misjudged how high up we were. I landed swiftly in a squat, but Mr. Stark started to nose dive towards some bushes. He tried to correct himself, but it didn't do much.

"Ow," he said as he fell on his side.

"I didn't say it was going to be easy and painless." I replied calmly, giving Mr. Stark my hand to help him up, even though I was really freaking out internally. I'd just convinced Tony Stark, my legend, to jump out a window on the third floor of a building. And I was pretty sure he had broken his arm because of me. Once he was back on his feet, I followed him out to the sidewalk.

"F.R.I.D.A.Y, call Happy and tell him to bring the car around. We need to get to S.H.I.E.L.D." He said and I started freaking out mentally again.

"W-wait. Were going to S.H.I.E.L.D now?!" I asked.

"Well, yes." Mr. Stark replied, and I started panicking at the thought of going to that place.

"I know you probably don't want to go there," he said, voicing my fears. "But I'll make it up to you." He said, and I wondered what he could possibly do to make me even want to go to that place.

"I'll move your lab visit to after we go to the organization," He proposed, and my eyes lit up. "But you can only come back with me if you go to the organization first." BLACKMAIL! But there was no way I was saying no to that offer. And plus, I'd been through worse pain than going to a secret organization that may or may not have been involved with all the deaths in my family.

"...Deal." I said finally.

"Good." Mr. Stark told me. Then he looked out into the street.

"How much longer till Happy gets here?" He said to someone who wasn't me. "Ok." He replied to them and turned to look down the street. Suddenly a long black car appeared and stopped in front of us. Mr. Stark got in the back like it was nothing, but I stood there shocked.

"Hey kid, you coming?" He asked me from inside the luxury of the vehicle. I gulped, realizing I was supposed to get in with him.

"Um, uh... y-yeah." I said, climbing into the back of the car. I still couldn't believe this was happening, and I half hoped it wasn't a dream.

I sat next to Mr. Stark in the back of the car on the black leather seats. There was a tv in one corner, and a mini fridge across from us. I had never been in a car this fancy... Come to think of it, the only time I've ever remembered being in a car was when my aunt and uncle died. I felt my eyes getting warm from the thought of it, and quickly wiped away forming tears.

Then the car started to move and I started to panic. What if the driver was kidnapping us? What if when I got to S.H.I.E.L.D they'd take me away and I'd never see anyone ever again? What if S.H.I.E.L.D's really an evil organization run by that Hydra thing? What if-

"Kid, you ok?" Mr. Stark asked me, and I realized I'd been breathing hard. I swallowed hard, trying to push down the sadness and fear.

"Um, yeah. I just... I've never been in a car since... since my family died." I said, trying not to look at Mr. Stark. It was quiet for a moment.

"Is this all... a little too overwhelming for you?" He asked me suddenly. I didn't answer for a moment.

"A little," I said. "I mean you're my hero, and I'm sitting with you in an extremely fancy car headed to a top secret place."

"Heh, yeah. But I'm just another person like you." Mr. Stark said.

"Who happens to be a billionaire." I added, and then it was quiet the whole rest of the way there and I couldn't help but wonder if I'd said something wrong.
