Nial is driving me home. We're on the highway. We're sitting in silence, but the radio is on. Nial's truck at least has radio. Rhys's truck doesn't have anything so there was never any room for silence. I hate silence. But music silence is okay. Music silence is good.
I'm staring out the window into a pasture. The sun is starting to come out, blanketing the trees in a bright shade of gold. I make eye contact with a cow. Her calf is feeding off of her. She seems very calm. Her life is simple and clean. She looks at peace in this very moment. The longer she watches me the longer I watch her. For the first time in what seems like a long time, my head isn't spinning. It's clear. It's calm- like her.
