Ella POV

Well, this isn't how I planned on spending New Years' home alone not that this is unusual but I'm all set I have food like you wouldn't believe bub has been wanting chocolate so I made lots of chocolate things and fruit with chocolate sauce. I thought I'd call Norman before the new year to wish him a good one. I hoped that he answered, I was shocked when he did.

"Hello."

"Hi."

"Ella?"

"Yeah, it's me. Forget my voice so soon."

"No more like missed your voice."

"I saw the photos from Japan it looks like you had a good time."

"Yeah, it was I wish you were there. What's up?"

"Oh, nothing I just wanted to wish you a happy new year. I wish I could be there with you."

"You made your choice."

"I didn't think I had a choice."

"Yeah you did, I wanted you, I wanted a life with you I loved you."

"You deserve better than me, I am not meant for you I never was."

"I thought you were better than any other girl. I wanted to marry you I was going to ask you in Tokyo had it all planned out."

"I'm so sorry Norman I never meant to hurt you. Leaving you I don't know if you know this but I miss you every day."

"I know I do too."

"I do I miss talking to you. I should've tried harder I'm sorry."

"Yeah, you should've. I can't talk it's almost midnight and I want to say happy new year to my son."

"Well say that to him from me as well."

"Sure, Ella."

"Well have a good one Norman, I hope I can talk again sometime."

"Sure, Ella."

"Okay, goodbye."

"You too. Bye."

I hung the phone up and I didn't think this New Year could get any worse.

NRPOV

Oh man, why did she have to call? I was trying not to think about her as I just want to see her but can't. God, I miss her. I miss waking up to her. I want to call her every day. I want to go down to Georgia and see her.

I should've made her come with me. Made it worth her while to come hell I wanted to marry her, god me getting married I must have been fooling myself someone like her would have me. If she wouldn't move she sure as shit wouldn't want to marry me.

"Hey, dad."

"Yeah kiddo."

"You okay?"

"Yeah. Why you ask?"

"You seem sad, you've seemed like that since you got back from Georgia. I know you miss her. You should go see her."

"No, she made her choice. I can't until the 12th Lauren made me promise it's supposed to be important."

"Well make her unmake her choice. The 12th?"

"Why is it so important to you? I don't know something about she needs time."

"Well could be that I saw how happy you two were. You've never been like this with any of the others dad. So she meant something to you."

"I'm going to after our holiday."
