Chapter 39
ELLAPOV
"What are you doing here? I thought I said I never wanted to see you again."
"Well then you shouldn't have met someone famous should you have if you didn't want your dad to find you."
"You're not my dad. Dads don't do what you did to me, treat a child how you did. Please leave."
"No, I won't."
"If you won't leave I'll call the cops."
"Honey don't do that. Can't a dad try making amends for the wrong things he did in the past? I owe you an apology."
"Damn straight you do. I don't think you'd ever be able to apologize for how you treated me, James."
"It's not James it's dad."
"No James you haven't ever been my dad, don't you remember I was born the wrong sex I should've been a boy."
"I should never have said that to you I was wrong about that."
"So what has changed your mind after 32 years please enlighten me."
"Your stepmother made me realize how badly I treated you after your sister was born made me realize how lucky I was to have a daughter like you."
"Sure James. I have a sister?"
"Yeah her name's Jackie she's six." She looks like you. "Wow. You're pregnant?"
"Yeah, I am. I'm due around the 18th of April."
"Can I come in?"
"No, I don't think so James. I'm not ready to let you into my life."
"I need you to Ella. I don't have long I'm sick. I want to fix the things I should've fixed before I was dying. I should've fixed us a long time ago."
"Okay but I can't have you in here I don't think Norman'd like that."
"He doesn't control as that other asshole did does he?"
"No Norman's wonderful James. He'll make a great husband. No, I just want to respect his wishes it's his place."
"Congrats on the engagement. I only found out about you because your stepmother's a fan who follows Norman. She thought you looked similar to me you do I can see parts of me in you, you have my hair babe."
"Thanks."
"I'm very proud of you I went to your shop yesterday and it looks good. You have a gift or is that the work of your baker?"
"No, I created all the cakes and things in there."
"Well, I'm very proud of that then. I wanted to say I'm so sorry I should've done something about how Damien treated you I could've helped you but I ignored you that was wrong of me."
"Yeah it was but James it led me to where I am now. I'm finally happy, I'm healthy, I'm safe now, and have my baby to come and a man that loves me."
"I'm glad he treats you right though I'm not sure about the thing I saw about the car darling?"
"That wasn't supposed to happen we get a little carried away."
"I could tell that. So Elizabeth, Jackie, and I came down to see you."
"I'd like to meet them."
"I'd like you too. Tonight dinner?"
"Okay, I'm free. At seven that sound okay?"
"Yeah perfect."
"There's an Italian restaurant in Senoia or a diner which would you prefer James."
"Probably the diner. Jackie can be a little problematic when she wants to be."
