Healing a broken heart
Chapter 129Ella
I'm so not looking forward to today Norman's leaving and we aren't going with him I want the kids to have the stability to not move around also I just opened my store six weeks ago I can't be closing it for eight months it's a pointless act he shouldn't have brought it for me. It's doing well nearly as well as the other store, funny enough I was talking to Theresa about whether she wants a part of this and open a franchise near her place and she said she would so she's looking for a place of her own. I am a chain.
"Are you sure you and the kids can't come with me I'm going to miss you guys so much?"
"Norman you won't you'll be so busy and you won't even miss us, you have to not miss us otherwise this won't work. We'll be there for four weeks in July with Mingus we'll all be traveling together. I'll be closing shop for that time to see you.
"I'm so glad you can spare four weeks out of eight months Ella, I'm so lucky I barely get to see my kids."
"Why are we fighting I don't want to fight."
"Well, that's a change you don't want to fight for a change. Normally you do."
"Well, I don't want to. I don't want you to leave and hate me. I don't want to leave you there alone, but you got me a shop that I can't abandon I've already done it once I can't do it twice then I'm right back where I started again without it.
"So it's okay to be without me? I'm going to miss my wife and kids they'll be grown up before I know it. Hell Stella'll be two and I'll miss it."
"We'll work around it. I have plans I know what I'm doing."
"You're way too rational Ella, so I don't get you, you're too rational it's scary."
"No it's not Norman I'm finally starting to feel good about things, I have the whole life-work balance, and my mind's starting to settle. It's nice to feel normal."
"I'm glad you're feeling better babe. But I'll miss you and the kids like I said."
What Norman doesn't know is that I'm only going to be open from Monday to Thursday but I don't want Norman to know in case things happen and we can't come.
"Well come here, babe. I want you looking after our babies and the kitties."
"Norman I thought I might leave them alone and make all of them fend for themselves I think Stella's old enough. Anyway, I got to start potty training her babe I want it in one place so it's normal for her. We'll see each other every night we can Skype each other a couple of times a night."
"Promise babe, that we'll talk every night?"
"Well, that's up to you if you're working of course not."
"Yeah there'll be night shoots but I'll call you after I'm finished. Okay, I got to go. Come here, babe." He pulls me to him and takes a picture.
"I love you Norman. Don't think I don't. But I need to do this."
"I know you do Ella. I just expected you to be more upset over me going."
"I can't keep quiet on this. We'll only be apart for four days a week. I plan to come down every Friday babe leave Sunday."
"You mean that so we will be seeing each other."
"Yeah and on the days that we aren't we can Skype the fuck out of each other. I think you'll love what I have planned for you."
"Oh now, I can't wait. Why didn't you just tell me this in the first place, Ella? I've been thinking that you hate me that you wanted me gone, you know that's fucked up."
"I'm sorry I wanted to surprise you on Friday but I can see how it's affecting you. You know I love you Norman.
"I love you too Ella. You'll look after my babies. I know I don't have to say that I know you will." He kisses me turns and gets into the car as he leaves I wave to him.
Ten hours later...
"Hi, babe."
"Daddy?"
"Yes, Stella it's daddy."
"Tell Stella I love her."
"Daddy loves you, baby girl."
"So what do I owe the pleasure of hearing your voice Norman?"
"I'm in Raleigh. Just wanted to hear your voice to know you and the kids and cats are good."
"Yeah we're fine babe, I miss you but I knew I would I've had you for weeks that never happens normally you're always bouncing from project to project."
"I'm sorry I do that."
"Hey don't be that's the nature of your job. I'm used to it the kids will be as well Mingus is used to it they will as."
"You know you're an amazing woman."
"Yep, I am. Oh, the fun I'm going to have with you mister you won't know what hit you when we aren't together. I've been shopping and signed up for something you will love it."
"What is it?"
"Nope, not gonna tell you."
"Fucking tease."
"Patience babe."
