disclaimer: this oneshot is more friendship than relationship because right now, i don't think it's appropriate to necessarily ship these two because they had just debuted, also because i thought they're friendship really showed off in the recent cooking vlive they were in.

anyways, on with the story!

"I wanna be his friend." Sungchan spoke, eyeing the familiar Japanese from across the lunchroom. Chenle looked up, facing the boy the younger was talking about.

"Why don't you go up and say hello, then?" he asked. Sungchan shook his head.

"Why would I do such a thing? Go up to a stranger and tell them I wanna be friends?? Hell no." he replied, fiddling with his fingers. Chenle sighed.

"Why not? I did that to Jisung, and look at us now!" he exclaimed hugging the taller boy's side. Jisung whined, pushing the smaller away.

"Because his friends are intimidating! They can drop kick me with their eyes!" Sungchan replied, shaking his head.

Jisung tilted his head in confusion. "Intimidating? He's friends with the other 00 liners." Sungchan nodded.

"Exactly! They're fucking scary!" he exclaimed. Chenle raised a brow. "How, though?"

"The small Chinese one, can verbally beat me up, the two boyfriends have enough muscles to put me in a headlock, the other chinese one, is the human embodiment of annoying orange and that show traumatized me as a kid, and then there's the sassy one, he might pick a cat fight with his hot cheetos and stilettos at me!"

Chenle and Jisung sat looking at the boy unamused.

"Bruh, chill, it's not like you're asking for his hand in marriage, you just wanna be friends, right?" Jisung asked, Sungchan nodded.

"Aight, so first you need a dolphin, Lele for example."

"How do I find a dolphin?"

"We have one, Lele." Sungchan blinked, but followed nonetheless.

"Okay, and what does this have to do with me befriending Shotaro?"

Chenle grinned, standing up, "This." he spoke before screeching across the lunchroom.

"SHOTAROOOOO!! MY FRIEND SUNGCHAN WANTS YOU TO COME OVER TO OUR TABLEEEEEEE!!!"

"CHENLE SHUT THE FUCK UP! EVERYONE CAN HEAR YOU!" Sungchan exclaimed in panic. Chenle just giggled as he sat down, enjoying his lunch as if nothing happened. Sungchan fiddled with his chopsticks, hoping that the older didn't hear the dolphin's screech.

"Sungchannie?" a soft voice spoke, startling the younger.

"HOLY SHi- H-Hi, Shotaro, how are you this fine afternoon?"

The Japanese smiled, his eye crescents becoming visible as he grinned softly.

"It was good, how about yours?" he asked. Sungchan gulped.

"It was good, better now that you're hear- ah! I mean, it was good." he mentally smacked himself for "flirting," it was just a habit he picked up from his hyungs.

Shotaro nodded, looking down at his feet.

"So, was there a reason you wanted me to come over?"

Sungchan stood tongue tied, his brain and mouth were arguing on what to say.

"He wants to go on a date with you." Chenle bluntly spoke, making the taller's gape at the statement.

"WHAT?? NO!" Sungchan exclaimed, immediately covering his mouth, "Ah shit, that was loud." Shotaro giggled softly.

"A playdate?"

"Yes,"

"No," Chenle and Sungchan spoke at the same time. The Chinese looked up and gestured his head towards the Japanese.

'Shoot your shot!' he mouth. Sungchan shook his head, lifting up his hand in a 'zip your mouth' motion.

He turned back to the Japanese who had a confused look upon his face.

"Uh, I thought you were cool and I wanted to befriend you? Ah, I mean become friends, because that's how normal people say it!" he spoke, scolding himself for being weird. Shotaro thought for a moment then nodded.

"Okay! Do you want to buy icecream after school?" he asked. Sungchan smiled and nodded.

"Sure! Sounds great!" he replied, earning a smile from the shorter.

"Okay, I'll see you then!" he exclaimed before walking back to his table. Sungchan let out a sigh of relief before sitting back down at the lunch table.

He eyed the smirking Chenle before groaning.

"What do you want?"

"It should've been a date."

"We're just friends!!" he whined.
