Chapter 48

Jin grit his teeth hearing that voice and looked at Sophie with worried eyes. He quickly checked her, to find any sign of uncomfortableness or hurt but when he found none, he mentally sighed in relief and pulled her into a hug, "Are you alright?" He whispered in her ear and Sophie nodded with a soft smile.

Seeing her smile, Jin finally relaxed and let Sophie pull him inside. Jin didn't want to face the person, but he couldn't run away and sucked in a deep breath. The voice belonged to none other than his ex mother in law, Jiae. Jin was pissed at her, not because she accused and blamed him but she spoke rubbish to Sophie.

He didn't know what was she doing at Sophie's place and looked at Sophie from the corner of his eyes to ask her. But judging from Sophie's facial expression, it seemed like there was nothing wrong. Jin still didn't let his guard down and stared at her with cold eyes. Jiae smiled at Jin, feeling happy to see him, "Jin! It's nice to see you" she said.

Jin didn't reply and simply stared at her with cold eyes, Jiae didn't expect him to either. Tears started stinging her eyes as she trailed on his face, taking in his features that were now hazy in her mind. Letting out a silent chuckle, she looked at Sophie and Jin, "I'll leave now. Take care both of you" she said smiling at them and walked out of the house.

As the front door shut, Jin spun Sophie around, holding her shoulders, "Did she hurt you? Did she say something nonsense? Why was she here?" He asked breathless, but Sophie sighed, "Calm down and no, she didn't do anything. She came to talk to me, after so many years and I don't know why" she replied casually.

Jin looked at her with squinted eyes, trying to see if she was lying but her eyes told she was telling the truth. Jin nodded licking his lips, "She better not do something this time, coz I won't let her go without the consequences" he said in a grave voice and Sophie smiled beautifully, making Jin coo at her, "Aigoo, my beautiful mother" he said teasing her.

Sophie blushed and smacked his head, earning a laughter from him. Sophie stared at him with loving gaze, "You're here right? I'm not dreaming again, right?" She asked hesitantly and Jin gave a sad smile, kissing her hands, "I promised I would come back. I'm here now" he said and Sophie smiled tearfully, "Yeah! You promised" she said.

Jin wiped her tears and gave her the bouquet of flower, "Beautiful flowers for a beautiful women" he said giving it to Sophie who giggled shyly, looking at the flowers in awe, "They really are beautiful" she said and smelled them, "And smell absolutely good" she said looking at Jin with gratitude and Jin nodded with a big smile.

Sophie walked to the table to put the flowers in the vase. She turned to Jin who was following her and asked him to sit down, while she made him something. Jin wasn't hungry but he missed Sophie's food so he just agreed. They both talked and laughed, purposefully avoiding the topics that were still raw. Sophie made Japchae that Jin loved.

Jin loved at the plate full of Japchae in front of him sparkling eyes, "Wahhhh! This smells freaking delicious" he said in a cheerful tone. Sophie chuckled and asked him to start eating. Taking first bite, Jin let out a loud moan, "I totally forgot how good of a cook you are" he said clapping his hands, with a proud face, shaking his head.

Sophie laughed at his dramatic response, a little surprised at it. Jin in the past wasn't so loud and bold but this Jin was full of confidence and Sophie loved it. She always wanted Jin to believe in himself and now that Jin wasn't shy anymore, she felt proud. They both ate happily, reminiscing old days when Jin's phone rung, startling him.

Sophie chuckled seeing Jin jump a little and hold his heart with wide eyes, "I see you're still a scaredy cat" she teased and Jin showed his tongue taking his phone out. He picked up the call and instantly pushed it away from his ear, when he heard loud screams coming from the speaker. Sophie looked confused at Jin.
