Jin's breath hitched when Sophie asked him the most dreadful question he ever wanted to answer. He wasn't worried about him but he was more concerned about Sophie, not really sure how was she going to react at the end. Jin tried to always avoid that topic but now he realized he was cornered and there was no way out.

Jin blinked a few times, trying to calm down and think wisely before dropping the bomb on Sophie. He wanted to pretend like he didn't hear but his reaction gave it away and he dug himself a deeper hole. Sighing Jin looked at Sophie with nervous eyes, "Mom, can we not talk about it? I don't-" he paused, not knowing what to say.

Sophie frowned, "You don't what? Why is it so hard for you? Shouldn't I know what happened to my son that day?" She asked softly but Jin felt her words strong enough to make him sweat. Jin shook his head, "It's not that. I just don't want to relive that day" he said in a tiny voice and Sophie turned to face him, "Jin, why are you scared about it?" She asked.

Jin gulped, "I'm not scared. I'm just worried" he answered truthfully. Sophie was lost, she didn't understand anything what Jin was trying to say. She simply stared at Jin who gave in, "Fine, I'll tell you but please, don't panic." he said and Sophie gave a curt nod, promising him. Jin licked his dry lips and hoped that Sophie won't react badly.

Jin started telling her what happened after he left Yoongi's place. He kept it short, not wanting to go in detail but whatever Jin said was enough to steal Sophie's breath. It was enough to stop her heart, hearing what all her son had to go through. She was more ashamed of herself than anything. Jin finished telling her everything nervously..

Sophie was stunned, she felt she was hit by a truck, the pain was just too strong, both physically and mentally. Sophie gulped thickly, wetting her dry throat, "I'm so sorry" she muttered gripping on Jin's hands. Jin shut his eyes, he was afraid that Sophie would blame herself and it was happening just like how he thought.

"No mom, please it wasn't your fault" he said in a pleading tone. Sophie shook her head, "No, I'm sorry, I couldn't keep my promise. I promised your eomma that I'd keep you safe from every harm, I promised to always give you happiness, I failed fulfilling it. I'm so sorry" she said blankly, which scared Jin.

He wanted Sophie to cry, to let her emotions out, but seeing Sophie calm, it was killing him. Jin pulled Sophie into hug, rubbing her back, "No mom, you didn't break any promise. You always kept me safe from every bad thing, you always made me happy, gave me more than I deserved" he promised but Sophie wasn't hearing anything.

She was too lost and shocked, Jin let out a stressful sigh, "See, this is why I tried to avoid this matter." he spat not so loudly. Sophie held her silence, irritating Jin even more. "Mom! Snap out of it. It wasn't your fault. It wasn't anybody's but mine. I was the one who decided it. Stop blaming yourself" he yelled angrily and Sophie flinched at his tone.

Jin softened and crouched down in front of her, looked into her eyes, "Please don't do this, beautiful. Don't blame yourself, what happened wasn't because of you. I was dumb and lost my mind. Nobody forced me to take that step, not even Namjoon or his mom. Please, talk to me" he pleaded at the brink of tears.

Sophie panicked when Jin's eyes showed pain, she nodded slowly, "It'll take some time but I'm sure, I'll forget it. It's not easy to accept that your child took such a step. Somewhere it was my fault, I should've been there when you were such thoughts-" she was cur off by a pained sob and Jin shook his head.

"It was solely my fault. You couldn't know what was I thinking so why are you blaming yourself? You're responsible for nothing." Jin said caressing Sophie's hands. Sophie couldn't answer, overwhelmed with everything. Jin inaudibly let out a long deep breath and collected himself before he could convince Sophie.
