(Probably a special chapter since I'm putting up Yachi's point of view.)
Yachi
Five minutes.
Five more minutes and Yamaguchi-kun will be arriving.
As the allotted time draws near, the steady autumn coldness becomes far less bearable. My tiredness makes me hang limp like wet laundry on a cold still day. I feel like every muscle is giving into gravity. What I want is sleep, a nice warm bed and a solid night of dreams, after staying up all night for our Science project.
But my OCD won't let me.
I can't have chaos outside and chaos in here too. My hair accessories are scattered over the dresser and my paperwork has sprawled over the easy chair. I stared at the pile of papers on the coffee table and sighed.
Today will be it.
It will be the day I'm going to have to tell Yamaguchi-kun that I like him and that I have a crush- No.
"Crush" was such an infantile word, one that must have been invented by older folks, the ones with an interest in belittling young love. I hated it. After weeks and weeks of rehearsing it in my head.
Oh, I wish it was that easy to actually tell him straight to his face.
Buzz!
Buzz!
The doorbell was shrill and it jangled my nerves, snapping me out of my stupor, I jumped like the button was hardwired to my brain, standing up in front of the huge mirror, I ran my fingers through my blonde hair to fix it for a hundred and two times now.
I shrouded my body in one of the sacklike print dresses, also blue, with baby-pink flowers, that my mom bought off a street rack in Kyoto. I would have preferred the big red roses or the orange dahlias: this dress made me look like an expanse of wallpaper. But I wanted something inconspicuous.
"Coming!" I exclaimed, as I strode off to the door, I gripped the door handle and quickly unlocked it.
I swung it open and was greeted by Yamaguchi-kun with a wide, warm smile as he stood by the doorway. His hair was a bit unruly, and his cheeks and nose stained with a tint of red because of the cold weather. He looked so cute!
"Hi," Yamaguchi-kun smiled, his nose crickled a little by how wide his smile was.
"Hi," My voice came out somewhat a bit shocked and sounded so excited, I felt flustered and nervous.
Yamaguchi-kun had the kind of face that stopped you in your tracks. I guess he must get used to that, the sudden pause in a person's natural expression when they looked his way followed by overcompensating with a nonchalant gaze and a weak smile.
Of course the blush that accompanied it was a dead give-away. It didn't help that he was so modest with it, it made the girls fall for him all the more.
I'm not pretty sure why I thought about that but it just made me feel like girls actually likes him because he pretty much gets along with them a lot.
There was kindness in his smile, a gentleness. It was the smile of one who laughed with ease and saw person under the behaviour, a soul-connector.
"Yachi-san!"
I blinked . . . just to realize that I had been standing there, staring at his face, connecting his freckles together for almost a minute.
"Aren't you going to let me in?" He giggled, "It's pretty cold out here," Yamaguchi-kun sighed, as a white, thick smoke came out of his mouth as he spoke due to the coldness of the weather.
