Yamaguchi

Tsukki's eyes were filled with anticipation and hope, while his eyebrows started to form a deep furrow. Was he worried that I already changed my mind?

"Well . . . I," I paused. Crap. I haven't even told my mom about it yet, "I-"

Tsukki spoke before I can even complete my sentence. Why won't he even let me express what I want to say? Is he nervous?

"You don't really have to . . . I mean, I'm not really forcing you to go . . . but if you don't want to-" Tsukki's words were jumbled as he try not to stutter. How cute.

I cut him mid sentence, "Tsukishima," I said in my earnest tone. Calling him Tsukishima almost caught him off guard because of his features softening while looking at me attentively, "I'm going," I said, reassuringly.

The corners of Tsukki's lips curled into a smug smirk, "Don't get too excited, it might not happen," He dictate before stepping across the threshold.

Following him from behind, "I won't," I chimed in, beaming.

The entire afternoon was just full training in serving, spiking and receiving. I had a bit of trouble receiving but overall, it was okay, I guess. Tsukki was getting irritated after thirty minutes of being on court because Kageyama kept tossing too high, making Tsukki jump a lot, causing him to sweat too much.

I mentally shrugged my thoughts of Tsukki sweating. That's just weird. After Tanaka-san, Tsukki and Kageyama-kun's training by three, Tsukki jogged towards the bench, drained and lifeless. His eyes met mine making his shoulder relax a bit.

I took his water bottle in my hand, ready to hand it over. Tsukki's chest was heaving up and down rapidly and his eyes squinting in exhaustion, I forgot to even notice how long I've been goggling him with protuberant eyes, observing all his movements the moment he started to jog towards me

Tsukki took a towel beside me, placing it around the back of his neck, "Yamaguchi, it's rude to stare," He sneered, before taking off his glasses.

I felt my cheeks heat up as I quickly averted my eyes from him, "Sorry, Tsukki," I chuckled, nervously. He didn't say anything but took the bottle from my hand before sitting beside me with his arm, slightly grazing mine. He sat too close.

I could feel the heat emitting from his body together with his uneven breathing, making me feel a bit fazed, "Kageyama's unforgiving," Tsukki said with a sigh of irritation, "I'm not like Hinata who literally can jump all damn day without breaking a sweat,"

I grinned, "I guess you're right," I chuckled, glancing at Hinata-kun jumping up and down by the court while cheering how awesome Kageyama-kun is.

Tsukki stayed silent and continued to drink water from the bottle, "Uh . . . About the dinner," I said in a half whisper as I start to pick my fingers.

Tsukki glaced at me with his water bottle still on his lips, "What about it?"

"Is there . . . a reason why?"

His brows formed into a deep furrow, "Why? Do you think it's weird that I invited you for my mom's birthday?"

His mom's birthday?

"What?"

Tsukki let out a soft, quiet chuckle, "Yeah, it's my mom's birthday,"

I gave him a horrid, shocked look, "What? It's your mom's birthday and I haven't even gotten her anything yet!" I gasped, "Why didn't you tell me immediately?" Swatting his arm in a jokingly manner, he laughed.

"It's not my fault that you have such bad memory," Tsukki taunted before smirking at me.

"You perfectly know I'm bad at remembering dates!"

He sighed, "It's not like you're celebrating it for the first time,"

"Apparently, it is, after two years." I rolled my eyes as I suddenly felt the nostalgia of my memories with Tsukki when we were still kids.

I remember celebrating our birthdays together. We'd never miss a single one. Oh, and Tsukki's room with his galaxy wallpaper and his collection of dinosaur figures. That was iconic. He wouldn't let anyone play with his dinosaur toys but me, that's why the kids wouldn't want to play with him, too. He gets a little bit too mean to them. I wonder if he kept the friendship bracelet I gave him when were like what twelve?

"I'll stop by the flower shop later to buy your mom a present," I smiled at Tsukki, "Would you like to come?"

Tsukki paused for a moment to think of his response, "No," He simply said before placing the water bottle by the bench.

I chuckled, "Of course," I muttered, rolling my eyes. I stood from my seat and look towards Yachi-san who's standing by the other bench with Kiyoko-san, "Well then, I guess I'll invite Yachi-san,"

Tsukki's head shot back up and eyed me with scrutiny, he didn't speak for a while and just literally stared right into my soul as I grew uncomfortable, he blurted, "Is she your girlfriend?"

I could feel the heat emit from my cheeks, "W-What?" I stuttered, not wanting to sound suspicious.

I don't really see Yachi-san in that way. I mean, she is nice and I do like her but I don't really see her being my girlfriend.

"Is she your girlfriend?" He repeats himself, he didn't sound hesitant but he was very straight forward and abrupt. Tsukki's face was obvious with curiousity. It's like he wanted to know. He needed to know.

I darted my eyes away from him, "She's not . . . my girlfriend," I answered him, careful with my words.

The crease from his forehead softens, "Ah," Tsukki nodded in realization, "But you like her?"

Tsukki's strangely curious. He wouldn't ask that far about anything. Especially these kind of stuff, usually he wouldn't really care.

"What? No," I blurted, nervously uncertain of what to answer, "No, not that way! I-I mean, I do, but-"

He scoffed as he stood up, "It's fine. I won't tell her," Tsukki made it sound like he was teasing but really, he just sounded a lot sarcastic.

I stared at him dumbfounded and confused, watching his face twist in annoyance, "Shut up, Yamaguchi," Tsukki grumbled, before putting on his glasses before looking away.

"What?" I laughed, "I wasn't saying anything,"

And with that, "Tch," He groused, his face masked with irritation.
