Tsukishima.
I wrote the final word on my comprehensive report paper for our one-thousand word essay before sinking further into my seat. The clock seemed to be moving so slow. I wonder if Yamaguchi already saw the note. Will he even think about it? I'm even scared to peer over Yamaguchi from behind to find out how he'll respond to it.
What if he'll decline? What should I say? What if he thinks it's weird for me to invite him over? "Oi!" What if he thinks I'm weird? "Oi!" What if-
"Oi! Tsukishima-kun!" A voice apprehended beside me causing me to startle a little, "What the hell are you thinking? You look kind of lost," Ayato, my seatmate, taunted.
I fixed my stare over his annoying face and grimaced, "What do you want?" I scowled.
Ayato rolled his eyes and flicked a piece of paper over my desk, "It's from Yamaguchi-kun. He just told me to give it to you,"
I took the pink small paper that's folded into two between my fingers. I pry opened it and saw Yamaguchi's familiar handwriting in kanji with random small drawings around his writings. Dorky as always.
"Okay :)" Yamaguchi's writing says.
Ayato propped his body forward trying to intervene, "What does it say?" He snickered, forcing his head forward to read Yamaguchi's writings properly.
I instantaneously folded the paper back into two, "Please, shut the hell up, Ayato-kun," I grumbled, taking the piece of paper in my hand and placing it between my book so it wouldn't crumple.
Holy shit, he said okay.
And with a smiling face.
Holy shit.
What do I say?
I slowly reclined my body towards Yamaguchi's seat to see his reaction, I prayed that he's not looking because I wouldn't know how to react- and of course. He's looking. His eyes were gleaming with delight, he beamed at me and stuck up his thumb and smiled even more making his nose scrunch up a little. What a dork.
I gave him a small smile and quickly averted my eyes forward to avoid unecessary awkward encounter. I fiddled with my hands and for some reason, I felt relief wash over me. I wasn't just relieved that he agreed to come over. It was more than relief. I couldn't think of another word to describe how I feel. I know I never fail in vocabulary most of the time but Yamaguchi would make it hard for me to comprehend things.
I took a deep breath and sighed. How will I even give this bento box to Yamaguchi? I'll just hand it to him and won't say a word. Yeah. I could do that. I'll just have to wait until break time. Crap. What the hell am I even worrying about? And why am I so nervous about this?
Ring!
Ring!
What? It's already break time? Fuck. I lost track of time. Okay. Okay. I'll just head over Yamaguchi's seat, tell him that my mom's asking me to give this to him and then I'll leave. Okay. Okay. Why the fuck does it sound so easy when I plan it inside my head? Okay. Here we go.
I stood up from my seat and took my bag from my desk's hook, placing it on my shoulder. Whenever I take another step closer towards Yamaguchi's direction, the more my feet becomes numb. It almost felt like my entire legs were getting stuck in a pool of mud. I took another deep breath and let out a sigh before opening my bag's zipper to take the bento box in my hand.
"Yachi-san!" Yamaguchi's voice echoed in my ears.
I discerned where Yamaguchi's eyes were gazing at, and by the classroom's door there stood Yachi with a huge smile plastered across her face as soon as Yamaguchi and her eyes met. Yamaguchi stood up from his seat before he took notice of my presence.
"Oh, Tsukki, uh . . ." Yamaguchi pursed his lips into a straight line pondering for his next words, "Wanna join us?" His eyes shone with anticipation. We usually head to the cafeteria and eat lunch together but today, I guess not.
I held onto my handbag and fixed my gaze unto Yachi, "I'm . . . Actually going to the club room today, I forgot my training shoes in my locker." I mumbled, quietly before turning my eyes unto Yamaguchi with scrutiny.
"Yamaguchi-kun!" Yachi's voice took heed of Yamaguchi, "I bought you some rice cakes, I thought you'd want some," She was already walking towards us. Yamaguchi fixed his eyes in a steady intent with mine, his eyes begging me to amplify.
I cleared my throat, "I'll be on my way. I'll see you in training," I said in a perpetually tired voice and scurried towards the exit.
