I awake with a dull pain underlying the numbness in my right arm, and I am enveloped by the stench of rotting leaves of the autumn morning.
Even before I open my eyes I know I'm not at home. The air is heavy and damp, pressing against my skin like a clammy shroud, but at the same time, I felt the morning breeze - it was really cold.
I shuddered under the thin cloth covering my body when I realized something heavy was propping down my torso.
I dread to open my eyes, but when I fluttered my eyes open, I squinted by the bright morning light. I felt like my heart leaped out of my rib cage when I saw Tsukki beside me, his arm and leg sprawled on me in a cuddle.
Shit.
I blinked, staringly, our faces were so close. I closely observed my surroundings as I was reminded by the memories from last night. God, I'm so embarrassing.
The couch didn't give us enough space, no wonder why we were so close when we slept. Taking this opportunity of Tsukki sleeping ever so peaceful, I gazed on his features down to his perfectly carved pink lips.
There was a slight mark of his glasses left on the bridge of his nose, I wondered how heavy his glasses were. Not long, it took me a while to realize that I had been staring at him for the past five minutes ever since I had waken up.
Tsukki took a deep breath, "It's rude to stare," He muttered, his eyes still closed.
I felt my cheeks heat up as I squirmed from his embrace, "Tsukki! You were awake all this time?" I whined, as I continued squirming away from his heavy arm.
I wouldn't really thought about anything malice because ever since when we were kids we would always wake up with both of us cuddling each other. But it felt kind of weird that Tsukki and I are grown ups. It felt weird but in a pleasant way.
"Stop moving," He grumbled, his arms tightening around me, "It's still early . . ." Tsukki kept his eyes screwed shut.
Wanting nothing more than to curl up into the curve of his body, I turned around and pulled the blanket up over my shoulder, Tsukki never taking his arm off of me. It felt so comfortable and warm, despite the cold temperature of the room.
Tsukki's breathing was slow and relaxed, I could feel and hear his heartbeat. I wish we could stay like this forever.
The room fell silent when the door suddenly swung open, "Ohayooo, Kei and Tadashi-kun!" Akiteru-san came in from the door with an earsplitting singing voice, as his face held a wide grin.
Tsukki immediately took his arm off of me and gripped the blanket to cover his entire head, I hear him grumbled under his breath.
"Hey, the two of you, wake up! I bought us breakfast!" Akiteru-san looked so happy as he held a paper bag in his arms, "I didn't know what to get you, Tadashi-kun, I hope coffee is fine," He chuckled, placing the food down the hospital table.
I yawned as I sat up, rubbing my eyes from the sleep that remained, "Good morning, Akiteru-san, coffee sounds good, thank you!" I bowed my head in an appreciative manner towards Akiteru-san.
"I couldn't come back last night, I was so tired so I decided to sleep at home," Akiteru-san scratched the back of his head, "I remembered the three of us wouldn't fit on the couch" He giggled, before setting up the food.
I hear my stomach grumble as I finally felt my hunger that's been building up since I woke up.
Tsukki sat up, groaning, involuntary yawns falling on his lips, "God, both of you are so loud," He muttered, he stood up from the couch before striding across the room, entering the bathroom.
Akiteru-san chuckled, "Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed," His eyebrows creased in realization, "Oh, yeah! He didn't wake up on the bed, no wonder why someone's grumpy,"
I cringed by Akiteru-san's uncle joke but decided to go along with it because I'd feel bad, "Isn't he always grumpy?" I had the urge to roll my eyes, making Akiteru-san snort a laugh, bursting into a convulsion of giggles.
"I can hear you!" Tsukki growled from the bathroom, his voice echoing.
Akiteru-san bit his lower lip to surpress a giggle, I did the same, "So, how was your sleep, Tadashi-kun?" He asked, handing me a paper cup of coffee, it felt warm under my palms as I gladly took his offer.
"It was pretty good," I nodded with a smile.
"I think I might've fallen for you, Tadashi . . ."
I blinked and suddenly went silent when I hear Tsukki's voice in my head, as I recalled last night's memories and conversations. Wait . . . Was it a dream? Or did he really say that? Crap. I couldn't tell which, but it wouldn't be possible for Tsukki to confess his feelings to anyone. He isn't like that. Is he?
"You okay?" Akiteru-san patted my shoulder, making me blink back in reality.
I gave him a small smile, "Yeah . . ." I trailed.
The bathroom door opened as Tsukki let himself out, before pacing towards us, still yawning, "What did you get me?" His voice was monotone, and completely emotionless.
"Uh . . . I bought you sandwiches since you don't like heavy breakfast," Akiteru-san pointed at the brown paper bag.
Tsukki quired an eyebrow, "That's it?"
"Oh, and the drink you always get. Uh . . . The strawberry yogurt? If I'm not mistaken," He shrugged his shoulders as he scrolled through his phone, as he sat on Kaori-san's bed just the small space below her feet.
Tsukki didn't speak as he took a peek in the paper bag, I bit my lip and couldn't surpress the giggle, "You sure do like that, huh?" I chuckled, intentionally wiggling my eyebrows at him.
He shrugged his shoulders, not minding my teasing tone, "It's not that bad," Tsukki smirked at me, "What? You thought I'd be embarrassed that I start to like the things you like?"
"I'm not even saying anything!" I laughed.
Tsukki rolled his eyes, a smile forming at the corners of his lips, "Shut up,"
My light conversation with Tsukki was immediately cut off by Akiteru-san's voice.
"Mom?" Akiteru-san stood up so quick from his seat, observing Kaori-san so surely, "Oh my god, Kei! Mom's awake!" He exclaimed, approaching Kaori-san as he bended down to get a closer look.
I saw Kaori-san's eyes fluttering open in a slow manner, as her fingers twitched above the bed's cover, Tsukki eyed his mom with disbelief as a grin fell on the blonde's pale face.
