Yamaguchi
I could hear the ringing inside my head as I loosen my clutched fists.
"We'll beat you in our next game!" Hinata shrilled with his fists tightly clenched, as he faced Kuroo and the other Nekoma members.
The tall grey-haired smirked stepping closer to Hinata, "You bet!" Lev boasted with gaiety.
We have lost the match between Karasuno and Nekoma and even for once, I've never even done something right.
"Everybody, go home, eat a proper meal and have plenty of rest," Ukai-san announced, rubbing the back of his neck in exhaustion, "Ya'll did an amazing job back there," He said with his chin up.
Most of them looked weary but Hinata looked pumped as usual, the meeting was dismissed and most of the Nekoma members left the gymnasium but Kenma and Hinata proceeded to chat, while Kuroo-san and Yamamoto-san stood near the exit, chatting, too. Not long, Hinata and the rest of us that were left in the gymnasium exchanged goodbyes as Hinata and Kageyama left together.
I sighed as I zipped my jacket close, I stood near the court, placing my jersey inside my bag and zipping it close before hanging it on my shoulder. We wouldn't have lost this match if it wasn't for me. What the hell was I even doing for the past few weeks? My hardwork of training every after practice never even paid off. Why am I so weak-
My trail of thoughts were cut off by a voice I had been longing to hear, "I'm off," Tsukki said from behind, as he slightly bowed his head towards Daichi-san, Sugawara-san and Asahi-san.
"See ya, Tsukishima," Sugawara-san beamed, waving his hand, together with Daichi-san and Asahi-san.
Tsukki's eyes met mine but his eyes averted real quick.
"Oh," I muttered under my breath, "Right,"
Of course, Tsukki's way of communicating to me telling me that I can't go home alone especially that the sun has already set. He always do this and I'm used to it. Tsukki's eyes would speak to me and I'd instantly get it without even him saying another word.
I faced my seniors and bowed to them, "I'll be on my way home, thank you for having me today!" I politely lend Asahi-san, Sugawara-san and Daichi-san a warm smile.
"Take care of yourself, Yamaguchi," Sugawara-san said smiling back as he shoved his shoes inside his shoebag.
Tsukki strode towards the exit where Kuroo stands, I could already see Tsukki's desperation of getting out of the gymnasium without having to interact with anybody but of course, Kuroo had to say something.
"Four eyes! You did very well today!" Kuroo-san's voice was deep and loud, his infamous smirk not leaving his face for even a second as he patted Tsukki's slim frame.
Tsukki shrugged his shoulders, "Yeah . . ." He trailed, "Could you step aside? I'm actually about to leave,"
At least he tried to sound polite.
Kenma stood next to Kuroo-san, while he was busy scrolling through his phone, "Kuroo, aren't we leaving?" The impatient small boy mumbled softly without leaving his eyes on his phone.
"All right, Tsukki! See ya around," Kuroo-san chuckled moving closer to Kenma to let Tsukki and I pass. Tsukki sighed irritatedly and slightly glared at Kuroo-san because of how Kuroo called him "Tsukki" but recovered too quick. Kuroo-san placed his left hand in his pocket and his right arm around Kenma's shoulder, "Let's go, Kenma!" He cajoled.
"Kuroo, your arm is heavy," Kenma tried to protest and shrug his hand off of him but Kenma looked too tired to even argue with Kuroo-san so he let him be.
Tsukki exited and I followed him through, catching up while he "normally walked" but he really do have long legs.
"Tsukki, wait up!" I called out, but he didn't listen. He just continued walking. Maybe because he already know that no matter how fast he walks, he's sure that I would catch up. He's not even walking fast . . . But his legs were just too long. I managed to catch up with Tsukki as I walked beside him keeping a long distance between us. He wouldn't want me too close.
The walk was silent and serene. We didn't even have to talk about anything but the moment, indeed, felt somehow . . . divine. It's like the entire universe above us was looking down at us. Just us. I looked up to the dark sky with the stars spread across the horizon . . . The moon . . .
Usually, when I walk home with Tsukki, it's either we wouldn't talk about anything, or just me initiating a conversation. He barely talks to me during our walk home, sometimes he would just put his headphones on and completely stay silent, but he didn't like the idea of me going home by myself, maybe because my family completely trusts him since we had been friends since we were kids and he didn't want anything to happen to me because he didn't liked being blamed. I can't argue with that because every single day in school, we would always stay together. As friends.
We had been walking for almost five minutes now. The walk was going in a slow pace. All I could hear was the wind rustling the trees around us and our light footsteps from the concrete.
"Yamaguchi,"
I felt like my heart skipped a beat from his voice, completely breaking the silence creeping around us, "Tsukki?" It took me a few seconds to respond, thinking if I was just hearing things. I was almost out of breath from saying that single word.
"I . . ." He trailed, darting his eyes down to his feet and putting his hand in his pockets. I obsereved his movements as we walked. Tsukki pulled out a pair of earphones from his pocket and plugged it in his phone, "My brother gave this to me, he told me he didn't need it anymore, so . . ." His voice was still stern but I could tell the difference from his usual cold tone to his tone right now.
I stared at him and smiled, "Earphones?"
"Obviously," He scoffed, shoving his phone back in his jacket pocket, "Here," Tsukki reached his hand towards me with the other ear plug.
"Oh," I blinked a few times before reaching for it, "Okay," I plugged it in my ear as he did the same with the other. I kept my distance between us so the earphones kept tugging.
"You're too far," Tsukki mumbled, keeping his eyes straight forward with both of his hands in his pockets. The song started playing with a soft rock music.
I managed to let out a small chuckle, "Sorry, Tsukki," I moved a bit closer but still kept distant just to avoid the earphones from tugging.
I hear Tsukki sigh before completely closing the space between us. I almost gasped from the feeling of his arm grazing against mine. My heart started to race, it almost felt like I was giddy. He was never this close to me.
"I told you, you were too far,"
