Yamaguchi
"Tadashi, get the door!" My mom blatted from downstairs, I bolt up from my bed and quickly went down the stairs, my heart beating in a haste manner.
The house was filled with the aroma of butter and milk. I immediately guessed that my mom had been baking the entire morning.
I turned the knob around to open the door, swinging the door open, I saw Tsukki standing by the door. He wore casual clothes, a thick jacket underneath a striped sweatshirt paired with his black jeans, the excitement rippled through me just to see him standing there with a bored look.
"Hi," I smiled.
Tsukki didn't reply but nodded his head in acknowledgment. Tsukki stepped in for the first time in two years from the front door. He glanced around the hallway and a small smile falling over his lips.
"Is that Tsukishima-kun?" My mom asks from the kitchen.
I peered over from behind to reply, "Uh . . . Yeah,"
"Well, then, why don't you invite him here? Offer him a drink or something?" She asked, her voice followed by a frantic opening and closing of cabinets.
I sighed and rolled my eyes before landing my eyes on Tsukki who still - was glancing around, "Nothing much had changed, huh?" He comments, his hands shoved in his pockets.
Smiling, I nudged an elbow at him, slightly as I coaxed him to follow me to the kitchen. Tsukki watched me disappear from the hallway before he follows me from behind. As we both stood by the kitchen's entrance, my mom took notice of our presence as a grin quickly replaced her serious expressions, she held a huge baking pan in her hands, the kitchen slightly messy.
"Oh, I'm sorry you had to witness this, Tsukishima-kun," My mom was quick to apologize as she tried to fix the other utensils, "Please have a seat,"
I nodded towards Tsukki and then to the table as Tsukki was quick to comply, sitting down, my mom took off her apron to put two mugs in front of us.
"It's been a while since you've been here, huh?" She beamed, placing in her hands to open the oven.
Tsukki licked his drying lips before speaking, "Sure is, Mrs. Yamaguchi, it seems like yesterday . . ." He trailed.
My eyes widens and I bit my inner cheek to surpress the growing tension at the pit of stomach as I gripped both my thighs under the table.
Tsukki lets out a soft chuckle, "It seems like yesterday when Yamaguchi and I were still playing around the house," He grins, innocently.
My mom's facial expressions softens as she giggled to herself, bringing out a tray of cookies from the oven, "So, how have you been, Tsukishima-kun? You've grown too fast over what? Two years?" She questioned, placing the cookies in a clean, empty plate.
"Yeah . . . I grew over a few inches, Mrs. Yamaguchi," He replied, fixing his glasses over his nose bridge, before giving me a glimpse and then back to my mom to plaster her a smile across his smug face.
I bit my lower lip, averting my eyes off of him as I stared down the floor, feeling my cheeks heat up in an instant. I already knew what he was talking about when he mentioned inches.
My mom kept a smile on her face as she continued fixing the utensils she used for baking, the kitchen fell silent but the soft clanking of the dishes when my mom finally brought another topic.
"How's your mom? I heard she had a car accident . . ." My mom's voice trailed, her tone was a bit off.
The mood of the kitchen swiftly changed into somber. I couldn't pin point what vibes her tone was giving off, as I watched her by the sink, trying to decipher her actions.
