Your friends stare at you, taking note of how limp your arms have become, "l/n, are you sure you're okay?" You nod your head in response to Midoriya, but none of them seem convinced. You glance at your arm, slightly surprised by the sight of the knife wound from earlier is now sealed shut, most likely from the heat you created earlier.
Some silence passes, and you realize that they're waiting for you to speak, "mm yeah, I'm alright" you struggle to get the words out, and your voice sounds extremely raspy. Before they can press any further, you ignore their stares and walk over to Tokoyami, who's crouching on the ground—indicating that there are more important matters at hand.
Tokoyami starts apologizing to both Midoriya and Shoji—you can tell from his body language exactly how guilty he must be feeling. "We can leave that for later. That's what you would say, right?" Tokoyami looks at Shoji in surprise, then starts to regain his composure. You watch as this scene plays out, unaware of both Todoroki and Bakugo staring at your hands.
"l/n," Tokoyami stands up then walks closer to you, "thank you." As he speaks, he maintains eye contact the whole time, a mixture of relief and something else visible in his gaze. He continues to stare at you, and the air becomes tense—you become increasingly flustered and open your mouth to speak when his gaze shifts towards your arms.
"You went to such lengths just to help me..." 'No, you're wrong—this was an accident—if I was better then I wouldn't have ended up injured' "I never knew you had that kind of strength..." 'Stop—you're wrong—stop, I can't take the guilt anymore' You purse your lips and look at him with slightly glassy eyes.
He looks at you in surprise, "l/n, are you okay? is it your injury?" You laugh inwardly, thinking about how convenient your injury is as an excuse for your tears.
"mm, n-no well... it's fine, I'm okay," you croak, and he looks at you skeptically, wondering why you would lie about something as serious as this. You gasp sharply as someone grabs your arm harshly, you spin around to face Todoroki as his grasp switches to your wrist, and he forces your hand in front of your face.
"No, you're not—look at this" you glance at your hands quickly and feel your stomach churn. You break free of his grasp and look at him, irritatedly only to find his energy matching your own.
You become sheepish then mumble, "why does it matter—we'll just deal with it later... you guys haven't said anything about Midoriya and look at him" Todoroki's gaze softens, and everyone glances at Midoriya.
"He's always getting injured," Todoroki states bluntly.
"But so am I," you say with a huff.
They all look at each other briefly, "...but it's different..." Midoriya mumbles, and you aren't sure whether you heard him correctly. Before you can ask any further questions, he suddenly jumps into a different conversation, "Oh, right! We confirmed that one of the villains' targets is Kacchan."
You let out a sigh of relief now that the attention is no longer on you and listen as they discuss their next move. "What's with your voice?" Bakugo asks, suddenly standing next to you.
"What do you mean? Nothings wrong," you say even though it's sounds like you've smoked 50 packs a day for the past ten years. You give him a strained smile, and he rolls his eyes at you.
"Anyway, I think the camp is the safest place since there are two pros, Vlad king and Mr. Aizawa, there."
"I see. So now our mission is to escort Bakugo there, huh?" Tokoyami responds to Midoriya, and Midoriya glances in your direction.
They begin to plan the route and the strategies that we'll use. "Honestly, with this group, we could probably even go up against All Might."
"What's with you guys?!" Bakugo exclaims.
