"About the hero work studies that are like a more serious version of the internships, where you go to where pro heroes work and help them... We talked about them at our faculty meeting yesterday, and almost all the teachers, including the principal, thought you shouldn't do them." When Mr. Aizawa finishes speaking, the whole class protests loudly.
Honestly, you weren't really sure how you felt about the work studies—sure, it'd be cool to do one, and it would help a lot with your progress, but what were the chances of someone recruiting you? Slim to none. You lean back in your seat and slouch a little bit, thinking about what happened earlier this morning.
When you went through your morning, you knew that everything was normal, but for some reason, you couldn't help but feel that you might've missed something, or maybe something was out of place. You look around the classroom and catch Aoyama staring at you—you quickly look away, embarrassed by the intensity of his gaze and smile.
'What does he want? Did I forget to do something...' You turn your attention back to the class just in time to see Bakugo stand up in his seat, almost celebrating.
"But some heroes think we won't be able to raise strong heroes with our current policies, so we came to the decision that first years will only be allowed to go to agencies with a good track record of accepting work study students."
Your classmates begin to murmur about different agencies they could contact, and you shift uncomfortably as you still feel Aoyama's gaze. You went to bed that night still feeling slightly uneasy, and Aoyama had never approached you later, so you assumed he must've been trying out something new.
The next morning you watched as Bakugo and Todoroki left for their special classes and contemplated what you should do for the day because you and your classmates had a day off from school. 'I could just not do anything... I enjoy spending time with my friends, but it feels like lately, they've been pulling me every which way...'
Before you can make a decision, Sero approaches you and asks if the two of you can talk in private. The two of you step outside, and when you're sure that there isn't anyone lingering around, you start talking. "So... what's up? This is kind of weird—you've never done something like this before—is something wrong?"
"l/n... about that note from earlier..."
"What note...? Oh, you mean the one I used to motivate myself?"
"l/n—why are you lying?" Your chest tightens, and feel your heart begin beating rapidly. When you look at him, you are met with a serious expression. 'Wait, no—go back to how you always are... I don't think we should make a big deal out of this, really...'
"What do you mean, Sero?"
"That note wasn't in your handwriting."
"Probably because I didn't write it.." 'Wait, I thought I was supposed to be deflecting suspicions? Is there something wrong with me?!' "I mean, well—I just found it and then threw it away. I don't really know where it came from, so... But it was probably a prank, right?"
'I really shouldn't let him know that I've gotten more notes like this in the past... It's not like I need to keep it a secret, but it doesn't really matter anymore, right?'
"That's a weird way to prank someone..." He mutters skeptically, and you start to wonder if he might start asking questions that you don't even have the answers to, "but I trust you, l/n..."
"Thanks, Sero... alright, let's get back inside—I've got a lot of nothing to do today." You say with a smile, and he returns it—losing the scary expression he had on his face earlier.
