Unexpected Hero (BNHA Various x Reader)

"I'll ask you one more time, aspiring hero, Katsuki Bakugo... Will you join me?" Shigaraki says as the other villains turn towards Bakugo for his answer.

Bakugo grins, "if you're gonna talk in your sleep, you should just go to sleep and die."

You giggle at Bakugo's response—after all, how many times had this guy asked Bakugo and received the same answer every time? Too many to count. 'Wait, I shouldn't be laughing in this situation—I'll probably be the first one to die—though, he hasn't killed me yet... even after I asked him to. What're these guys doing? Did they just kidnap Bakugo so that they could annoy him or something—I thought they were the big scary villains... They kind of remind me of children right now...'

You smirk to yourself, then stop immediately once you realize Shigaraki had been glaring at you the entire time. you gulp loudly, realizing that this is the first time that everyone's attention in the room had been towards you. "Let me ask you, y/n l/n, will you join me?"

You raise your eyebrow and look at him quizzically, 'why would he ask me? Isn't this just some kind of mind game with Bakugo now—so I'm just a pawn? Even the villains don't want me... That's so... funny.'

"Why would I do that? Isn't this all just some big game to you? I'm just a pawn, right—Did you kidnap me along with Bakugo thinking that it might influence him? You really messed up—this guy doesn't even—No, this guy hates me." You say while gesturing towards Bakugo with your head as you remember his punch. You feel a weight being lifted off your chest—almost as if you had finally confronted Bakugo in a weird roundabout way about how he had been treating you recently.

You don't notice Bakugo staring at you in surprise as Shigaraki continues to speak, "hmm, interesting—consider you being here as an added bonus... After all, your quirk is powerful enough, right?" He gestures towards the villain you now know is called compress, and he nods his head.

"You should've seen the light they released earlier—it gives me shivers just thinking about how flashy they are—a real showstopper!" Compress exclaims, and Shigaraki turns back towards you.

"The only problem is..." He looks at your arms contained in the restraints, the slightly burnt flesh just peeking out, "But that doesn't matter," he continues and gestures at Dabi, "he can help you with that," he turns to stare at you, and you feel your heart freeze, "besides we can help you become stronger..."

"Why would I do that? Why would I become a villain?" You blurt without thinking. He stares at you, then grins, 'wait, did he say become stronger? Were they the ones sending those notes?' Before you can confront him, he continues to speak. With his next sentence, you feel as though the world has suddenly stopped.

"Well, why would you become a hero?"

'He's right... if you don't have something motivating you—then why are you even doing it? I never had any reason to do all this hero stuff, to begin with... If I had started out differently, would I have become a villain? It's not like I have any heroes that I admire or like I have to prove anything, so why am I still chasing this? Why am I desperately trying to keep up with my classmates who are working so much harder than I am?'

Shigaraki grins smugly when you no longer respond—thinking that he's influenced you, or at least shaken your values.

'I'm tired of this... Someone just give me a reason... Just tell me what to do already...'"Wouldn't you do anything to become stronger?" Shigaraki says, and you look at him slightly startled.

"N-no, no—I wouldn't join you, you hurt people—you play with people's lives," you think back to Iida's brother and Kota's parents, "You're all sick, pretending that you're some kind of god!" You say, your voice rising to a shout, "it's selfish. I could never join people like that..."
