Unexpected Hero (BNHA Various x Reader)

As leave your house the day of the sports festival, your parents reassure you that they'll be there cheering you on, and they playfully mention how they'll be sure not to embarrass you. You roll your eyes at their obvious lie, and you begin the trek to school. While you know that your parents will support you, you still can't stop the nagging feeling that you might disappoint them.

Thankfully you decided to leave extra early this morning so that you can prepare and avoid the crowd that was sure to form in front of the school entrance. You arrived at the class 1-A waiting room first and quickly change into your P.E. uniform before anyone else can arrive.

You look at the time and realize that you're almost 30 minutes early. You take a seat at one of the tables in the room and stare at the lockers in front of you, zoning out and trying to concentrate at the same time—it didn't work—which was obvious by the constant shaking of your left leg.You think back to the past two weeks of training and reflect on everything that you've done up until today.

'I know that I trained hard, so I don't have to worry about my physical fitness, but I'm not so sure about my quirk.' You look down at your hands firmly clasped together, 'Using light as propulsion only works if I'm able to create enough lasers so that it heats the air to the point of explosion. But every time I tried to create multiple lasers, I almost burned holes right through my hands... I guess I can't use that unless it's my last resort. At least I can sort-of create small mirages, although when I practiced, I noticed that it just made the scenery look wavy... At least now, I don't become injured unless I start creating lasers, but I really hope this festival isn't anything too insane—although I highly doubt that.'

"Woah—you're here early l/n!" when you don't respond to Mina, she says, "l/n? Hey, l/n, are you alright?"

You finally snap out of your trance, "Oh oops, sorry—guess I'm a little nervous," you smile at her, and she returns the grin then starts her own preparation for the competition.

You look around the locker room and realize that suddenly you aren't alone, and more of your classmates are arriving by the minute.

"I wanted to wear my costume." Mina states.

"To keep everything fair, we can't." Ojiro tells her.

You listen as your classmates start discussing the event that's about to happen and look at around you to find Kirishima, Kaminari, Bakugo, and Sero sitting at the table with you, with Todoroki standing nearby.

'How did I end up seated with these guys?' You shrug your shoulders and decide to just go with the flow. "So, how did your guys' training go?" You ask them, trying to get your mind off your nerves."I trained by myself by jumping from buildings and using my hardening to protect myself." You look at Kirishima in disbelief from his statement.

"Yeah, we all trained by ourselves I think." Kaminari continues as Sero nods his head, and Bakugo looks disinterested.

"What did you do l/n?" Sero asks while grinning.

"Oh, I trained with Uraraka, Aoyama, and Mina." You smile thinking about your training, not noticing the slightly disappointed looks from Kirishima, Sero, and Kaminari.

FLASHBACK
You watch as many different rocks start to float in the air from Urarakas quirk and smile at her noticing how easily she's able to do it now.

"Here I go!" Mina runs past you and you chase after her as Uraraka releases the rocks. Mina destroys two of the rocks with her acid and you create a laser destroying three of them.You smile to yourself in satisfaction—especially now that your hand only becomes slightly burnt from creating lasers now.
