"Wait, l/n—can we talk?" Tokoyami faces you, blocking your exit—you look at him and notice that he looks slightly concerned, and you nod your head.
You lean against the wall, and he does the same, "So... are you okay? What did you wanna talk about?" He looks at you, slightly surprised.
"I was actually gonna ask you the same thing—you seem different after we took the practical exam..."
'Crap—did he notice? Does that mean everyone else noticed too?'
"What? Really? Hm, I must've just been tired, haha..." He looks at you unconvinced, "fine, fine—I was just worried about the results of the finals at the time... I don't know, I feel like I passed unfairly... but it's okay now—I got everything figured out" What you said was true, but you decided to keep all your other thoughts to yourself—you didn't want to overwhelm him after all.
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, of course!" You plaster on a fake smile while he becomes quiet, and you look at the ground.
"Well, if that's it, then I really should go meet up with Kaminari, Iida, and Hakagure."
"l/n—you should know that you were important to our team—without you, we would've gotten stuck in the beginning without your help." You look at Tokoyami surprised—after all, you hadn't talked with him that much before.
You smile lightly and say thanks. 'My help, huh? If I was stronger, I could've helped more... stronger... Wait! maybe I should ask about that note I found in my bag—maybe he got one too.'
"Hey, Tokoyami—did you find something in your bag after the practical exams?"
"Huh? What do you mean?" he looks at you, confused.
"Oh uh, nevermind!" For some reason, you stopped yourself from talking about the note more—maybe you wanted to feel special, or maybe you simply wanted to keep it a secret.
As you're leaving the alley, Tokoyami calls out to you, "don't forget that you're important to us l/n!" You blush embarrassed, and quickly leave, disappearing into the crowd.
THIRD POV
Tokoyami watches l/n disappear into the crowd and thinks back to their interaction. 'Maybe I shouldn't have said that—it's not like me to suddenly compliment someone... but I really wanted to say that to them...'Y/N POV
'I wonder why Tokoyami said that—it's not like him to say things like that... Maybe I should start hanging out with him more... I mean, it couldn't have been a compliment—he must've been trying to reassure me? Do I look like I need help or something? I don't want my friends to feel like they need to save me or that they need to help build my confidence... I don't want to be a burden anymore.''Ever since I started training to become a hero—I've become jealous and insecure—maybe it's just a coincidence, or maybe it's a sign that I'm not cut out for this stuff...'You look around at your surroundings and see Uraraka in the distance, 'What's she doing up here? I thought she was with Midoriya... I have some time before I need to go to the food court, right?'
"Hey, Uraraka!" She jumps in surprise at your voice but quickly smiles when you walk up to her.
"That's weird—I thought you were supposed to be with Midoriya."
"Oh, y-yeah we got separated," she looks slightly flustered, but you ignore it.
"Hey, that's funny—I also got separated from my group!" 'It was my own fault, but still, "guess we're gonna have to pair up, then!" You say jokingly.
