"I can't be cheerful and positive like you or Mirio," Amajiki mutters.

"I feel the same, sometimes. There are lots of times I can't do anything when everyone else is frantic. The gap in ability and experience between me and my classmates has gotten bigger... So I at least want to close that gap, so I can stand next to them!"

You look at Kirishima for a couple of moments—his statement was very similar to words that you had repeated to yourself many times before. You felt oddly connected at that moment—even though you knew he had a more positive outlook, his words were practically the same as yours.Kirishima suddenly turns to face your direction and catches you staring at him—you both blush and turn away.

"That's called 'being positive,' first year." You smile after hearing Amajiki, remembering how you interpreted the way to become stronger versus how Kirishima interprets it.

"It could also be interpreted as being—" You are interrupted by someone calling for help. You watch as five criminals come barreling down the road. Fat Gum intercepts their path and grabs them all, then proceeds to start absorbing them into his body. You watch as one of the criminals seems to shrink, and he flies away—similar to Edgeshot.

You start getting ready, prepared to capture the man, when suddenly octopus tentacles come flying out of nowhere, and quickly wrap around the criminal. You search for the source of the tentacles and find Amajiki standing further down the road.

He pulls the criminal towards him and starts attacking him—when the criminal is rendered useless. You look to see various animal parts growing from Amajiki's body. You quickly jog over to him and Kirishima to get a better look at his quirk.

"It was amazing! You were so fast and so good at using your quirk!" Kirishima exclaims, and soon Fat Gum leads the crowd that has gathered into praising Amajiki. You watch in awe, 'I can't get over how cool his quirk is... but I could never tell him that. It'd be too embarrassing for the both of us. I mean, just look at how he's doing now—I feel like he might turn into a puddle any moment now...'

"Oh, no! Get down!" Fat Gum screams, and the sound of a gunshot echoes in your ears. Both you and Kirishima watch as Amajiki is hit—panic begins to spread through the crowd, and people start to run. Another shot is fired, and Kirishima is hit in the head, thankfully his hardening quirk protected him.

"I'll capture him!" Kirishima shouts. However, you've already started running after the criminal. You weren't sure what possessed you to move, but your legs did it on their own. 'I said I was going to be a hero for my friends—if I can't protect someone now, then why am I still trying?'

You hear Fat Gum yelling after both of you, but you continue to run. You follow him down different alleyways as he continues to shout randomly, "Don't come near me! Stop chasing me!"

"That's kinda weird for you to say to someone who's trying to be a hero," you mutter under your breath.

"Running away scared after shooting someone isn't manly!" You hear Kirishima's voice becoming louder as he gets closer. You continue the chase until you reach a dead-end, and the criminal is forced to stop.

"It's a dead-end! Prepare yourself!" Kirishima yells, and you begin running towards the criminal, ready to tackle him when metal spikes grow from his forearm, and he reaches forward to hit you. Kirishima suddenly runs in front of you and takes the hit, then punches the criminal as a comeback.

The man goes flying, and Kirishima turns to face you, "l/n, are you alright?"

You stand next to him and get into a fighting stance, "yeah—you know I could've dodged that, right?"
