During your last year of middle school, you trained harder than ever before—which wasn't saying much, considering you hadn't really trained before. Every day you woke up to run a couple of miles before school, then after school, you would practice a combination of combat training and controlling your quirk. After dinner, you would run some more and study the mechanics behind your quirk—including topics like energy conversion and systematic processes of vision and light.

Throughout your training, you soon discover that with extended use of your quirk, your skin starts to develop burns and that you can only manipulate as much light as available to you.

Days turn into weeks, and weeks turn into ten months of strenuous training, but the day has finally arrived. You stare at the U.A. entrance, take a deep breath, and start to walk towards it. You catch sight of both Midoriya and Bakugo, who also notice you. Midoriya looks slightly confused while Bakugo appears to be angry. Before either of them can confront you, you hurriedly walk inside the testing center.

You take a seat in the back and listen as Present Mic explains the rules for the practical exam. You look down and notice Midoriya sitting next to Bakugo, the air clearly tense between them. 'Why would they be seated next to each other—that's pretty ironic... not my business though.' I need to focus on myself and make sure that I can actually get through this.

While your quirk had improved with training and your combat skills were better, you were still unsure if you could actually defeat anything with the power you currently held. Your leg shakes up and down as you get more nervous.

You turn your attention back to Present Mic as he further explains the rules, "Three different types of faux villains are stationed in each battle center. You earn points for each of them based on their level of difficulty. Your goal, dear listeners, is to use your quirks to earn points by immobilizing the faux villains."

'That seems okay... I think I might be able to do that.' You look down at the card in your hand and reexamine which battle center you're assigned. 'Battle center C huh? And I'll bet that both Bakugo and Midoriya are in different centers than me to eliminate cheating.'

Another student stands and points out that there are four different types of villains on the printout, to which Present Mic reveals that there is another villain worth 0 points and that he recommends users try to avoid it. 'Woah, that kid was very uptight—I can't believe he called out Midoriya's muttering. I mean, it's actually kind of funny, but still, aren't we all nervous and just trying to do our best?'

Present Mic wishes us all good luck, and with that, our exam begins. Soon you leave to battle center C nervously wringing your hands in anticipation, completely ignoring the students around you and trying to get focused.

"Okay, start!" Present Mic shouts. "What's wrong? There are no countdowns in real fights!" All the students break out into a sprint, and you follow close behind the pack trying to make sure that you aren't left behind without any points to collect. The students ahead of you start to scatter, and you turn down a different street, trying to distance yourself from the others so you can rack up points.

As you turn the corner once more, a robot appears before you, the number 2 painted on its exterior. In a robotic voice, it claims, "Target acquired. I'll kill you!" Before you can decide the best course of action, your legs start to run towards it, you'll just have to improvise as you go.

When you get close enough, you jump as high as possible and land on top of its arm. You firmly place your palm on top of the metal and take a deep breath as you feel the sun beating down on you. From your palm, a surge of heat is released and spreads around the robot—you jump off as soon as possible, watching as its arm starts to lose shape, and slowly the rest of the robot's appendages follow suit.

You look down at the melted mess already hardening on the ground and think to yourself, 'I can't believe I just did that—I was actually able to generate enough heat from the sunlight to melt all this metal? Maybe I'm not going to fail. Maybe all that stuff I read about light-energy conversion wasn't useless...' grateful that you actually did some research.

You hear students shouting in the distance, and some crashes follow. You shake your head and begin to run around more, trying to get more points. 'That's only two points I need to keep going—I can't celebrate now.'

You run around the streets, slowly racking up more points using the same process as you did with the first one and ignoring the burning sensation in your palms. Mostly, following the sound of other students to find more robots. All the while, focusing on yourself, trying not to get distracted by the other students' strategies for destruction.

"Three minutes left!" A small feeling of dread wells up inside of you as you hear Present Mic announce the remaining time. 'How many points was that? 30, wait, no, maybe 40? Augh! I don't know! I hope it's enough to pass...'

All of a sudden, the ground rumbles, and you see a plume of smoke rises from down the street. You stare in awe as a gigantic robot starts marching towards you and the other students, creating debris and getting closer. The students around you start running in the opposite direction, and you continue to stare mouth agape.'

Is that the zero-pointer!? Why is it so big?! are they trying to kill us!? I know this is a hero entrance exam, but I thought we would be allowed to improve before we end up dying...'

As your thoughts continue to race in your head, you realize how close the robot has gotten to you—only a couple of meters away, and notice you're suddenly alone.

'Shit!' You turn on your heels and start running towards the other students, just barely staying out of the robots reach. No one makes any move to try and destroy the robot, everyone is running. '

'Some heroes we plan to be... I understand that I'm pretty cowardly, but dang, I thought some of these kids were hardcore like Midoriya or Bakugo. Whatever, I'm just going to hope I can evade long enough.'

"Times up!" everyone around you, yourself included, breathe a sigh of relief as Present Mic announces the end of the exam, and sirens start going off. Students stand around the destroyed remains of the robots with either smug grins or nervous looks on their faces.

You see that most of the students around you were relatively uninjured, and then you're all told that you can go home. You leave the U.A. campus with the other students, completely lost in your thoughts. Unaware of Bakugo's glare.

'I can't believe the exam was over so fast. I really hope I had enough points to pass.' Your nerves start to build up once more, but you shake your head and remind yourself, 'I did the best that I could... the only thing I can do now is wait for their decision in a week.'

A week later, you're sitting down with your parents during dinner, concern clearly shown on your face. Your dad smirks at your mom then says to you, "Hey, something weird happened today...I think we got some mail addressed to the wrong house."

Your ears perk up, and you watch expectantly as your dad slowly grins then pulls out a letter from behind him, labeled with the official U.A. stamp. You snatch it out of your dad's hand and race to your room, shutting the door behind you, ignoring your parents' whines.

You rip it open immediately, and a small silver disk falls on top of your desk. Suddenly, a hologram of All Might appears before you, and he starts to speak with his booming voice. "y/n l/n, you passed the written exam and got 44 points on the practical, which means... you passed!" You immediately jump up from your desk in shock, 'I can't believe I actually passed, this is crazy—did they make a mistake?' "This is your hero academia" All Might continues with a smile, and you grin back even though you know he can't see you.

You open the door and smile at your parents waiting outside your bedroom and smugly state with a thumb pointed at yourself, "I'm going to become a hero!"
