Heat. You feel waves of heat running over your body, and suddenly, parts of your body start to burn. You desperately glance around, trying to find the source but are only met with destruction and rubble surrounding you.

"Help me!" Your ears perk at the sudden cry for help, and you survey your environment once again—you glance at a fallen pillar and see a man trapped underneath with a face contorted in pain. As you start to take off into a sprint, you yell at the man, "It's okay! I'm here to help—I'm a hero, my name is *****!"

Once you reach the man, you start reassuring him and state firmly, "I'm going to get you out of here." You place your hand on the pillar, and you feel something similar to the heat you felt earlier—only this time, it's in your palm.

Before you realize what's happening, your vision blurs, and you hear the man's voice in the distance, "Thank you, you saved me." Without warning, the scene of destruction disappears, and you hear a faint beeping.

You open your eyes and squint at your clock beeping for you to wake up. Lazily, you reach over and shut off the noise and rub your eyes, trying to wake yourself up. After fully opening your eyes, you lay in bed staring at the ceiling and think to yourself, 'what a weird dream—I've never had one so vivid before.'

You recall the events of your dream, realizing the role that you were fulfilling. 'Is that what being a hero is like, constant adrenaline, calculations, and alertness? I will admit that it felt amazing, and being able to provide help to someone else was a nice surprise, considering I'm usually not very active. Wait, maybe that dream was a sign—or maybe I'm reading too much into it.'

You continue to argue against yourself in your head, completely ignoring the passing time. You glance over once again and sigh, saying to yourself, "Oh, it's only 8:15... 8:15?!" You jump out of bed and scramble to put your uniform on, and race out the front door with your bag in hand, completely ignoring your parents' goodbyes.

You sprint wildly, cursing your parents for never forcing you to join a sport. As you reach your middle school, you notice the time is 8:23 and start to pick up the pace. You run into your classroom out of breath and looking around crazily. Your classmates stare at you, confused—but you calmly smooth your uniform and walk to your seat by the window in the back, sitting down with a huff.

Almost immediately after you sit down, your teacher walks in and states, "Since you're all third years, it's time for you to think seriously about your future. I'll pass out handouts for your future plans now, but... you're all... pretty much planning to go into the hero course, right?"

You watch silently as your classmates erupt in cheers, all exhibiting their quirks, and start thinking about what you told your parents earlier. 'The hero track... of course that's what everyone wants to do, I'm surprised they all seem so confident—I wasn't even completely sure until yesterday.'

Before doubt can grab hold of you, someone states smugly, "Teach! Don't lump us all in the same group. I'm not gonna be stuck at the bottom with the rest of these rejects!"

'Of course, Bakugo would say that, what I would give to hurt his ego just a little bit. While I might be a little unmotivated, at least I don't ridicule others.' You think to yourself and smirk as the class and Bakugo continue to argue. Unbeknownst to you, Bakugo caught sight of your smirk, feeling slightly enraged.

"Oh, if I remember correctly, you want to go to U.A. High, right, Bakugo?" your teacher says. You finally turn your head towards Bakugo, full attention to the conversation taking place. More students continue to whisper about the prestigious school, and Bakugo stands on top of his desk.

"That's exactly why you guys are just extras! I aced the mock test! I'm the only one at this school who could possibly get into U.A. I'll definitely surpass All Might and become the top hero! My name'll be inscribed on the list of top earners!"

The teacher then states, "Oh yeah, Midoriya wanted to go to U.A., too, right?"

You stifle an awkward laugh as the tension in the room intensifies, and Bakugo confronts Midoriya. You look over at Midoriya and try to remember why he seemed familiar, then realized that he's the kid without a quirk. You start to feel some pity but remind yourself that he probably wouldn't appreciate it.

The rest of your day moves slowly, and as the students start to head home, you hear Bakugo start harassing Midoriya once again. You clench your fist as you hear Bakugo relentlessly try to destroy Midoriya's dreams. While you weren't particularly close to either of them, it was still angering to hear someone try to crush another one's hope.

Deciding that you can't listen anymore, you walk away from the classroom and start the long walk home only to spot something in the corner of your eye. You bend down over the pond and see fish nibbling at what looks like a singed notebook. Written on the cover is "Hero Analysis for the Future" Curious, you grab the notebook and take a peek only to find a plethora of notes on different heroes.

'What the heck! I didn't even know there were this many heroes—how much time did this take? ...what a nerd... still, I have to admire their dedication.' You sigh and set the notebook on the edge of the fountain, "At least the fish won't be eating it anymore," you say aloud and start to walk home from school.

Little did you know that a certain green-haired hero enthusiast saw your considerate action and smiled gratefully.
