While everyone was still in shock from the aftermath of the fight you all just watched, you get up silently and walk out of the stands to go and prepare for your fight.
'Sure, I'd love to talk with Iida and Uraraka and maybe visit Midoriya in the nurse's office, but Iida did call me his rival earlier... I don't know—I just feel like if I spend some time with them before our fight, I won't be able to focus properly. And it's not like Midoriya can offer both Iida and me a strategy... ugh this sucks, I really don't want to fight Iida.'
You find yourself standing in front of the player waiting room door, then you open it and walk inside. You sit down at the table, clasp your hands and rest your head on top of them.
'Alright, if I were Iida, how would I fight me? I mean, he could probably just push me out of the ring, but that would be too simple—though I don't think he's going to fight full-on in hand to hand combat. Is this fight just going to be a race to see who can act first? And I can only use my feet... maybe I can create a distraction and start fighting him—although he is a big dude...'
You hear the door opening and lift up your head, "Ashido?" She walks into the room then sits in a seat across from you. "What're you doing here?"
"I saw you leave early, and I wanted to wish you luck before your fight. You nervous? You excited?" She says while grinning at you.
"Oh, well yeah... I mean, Iida's really cool—I'm not sure how I'll be able to fight him." You smile at her bittersweetly, and a silence develops between you two.
"Why do you say stuff like that l/n? You're really cool too—did you see what you did to Kaminari?" She breaks the silence.
"That was just luck—I'm sure Kaminari could've beaten me—he's much more motivated than I am..."
"Hey, l/n?"
"Yeah?"
"You're having fun training to be a hero right?"
"Yeah, I think so" You look away from her.
"And no matter what you might say, you're a really strong fighter... so why does it matter that you don't have a specific motivation for becoming a hero right now?" You look at her in surprise.
'Right now, it seems that my only motivation for becoming a hero is that I don't want to disrespect everyone else's efforts... it really feels shameful'
"Sorry... I overheard you talking to Midoriya, Iida, and Uraraka, but you're really good at what you do, so why don't you just keep doing it?" She smiles at you and slightly blushes.
You stare at her for a few quick seconds, then look at the time and realize that you had been in the waiting room for too long.
You stand up abruptly, and Mina follows you to the door—you turn around suddenly and give her a big hug, "Thanks, Mina."
Her face turns from pink to red as she blushes from your hug, "N-no problem l/n... good luck out there!"
You leave her in the room as she tries to slow down her quickening heartbeat. You make your way down the hallway towards your designated entrance and take a deep breath. You slowly crack each knuckle nervously, then walk out onto the field as Present Mic announces your name.
You make eye contact with Iida as both of you walk up the steps to the stage. He stares at you intensely, and you immediately recognize that he doesn't see you as his friend anymore—you're his rival.
THIRD POV
"Hey, doesn't l/n look really nervous?" Uraraka looks down at the stage, commenting on the two students facing each other.Tokoyami nods his head, then says, "This'll be an interesting fight. I wonder who will win.."
