"Na-aksidente si Caloy."
Those words are replaying in Lia's head non-stop. Her heart is beating really fast and she felt like it wants to come out of her ribcage. She feels like she is to blame on his accident. She should've asked him to stay in Batangas and have some rest.
She hurriedly fixed herself, gathered her things, and fumbled through her bag, trying to find her car keys.
Leandro found her daughter in a frantic situation when he opened the door of her bedroom.
"Alexandra..."
Lia looked at her father for a bit, trying not to cry in front of him, before finishing the things that she needs.
"Papa, I need to go. Na-aksidente daw si Caloy. I need to see him."
"Okay, but calm down... Let the driver take you..." she hears her father say worriedly.
"N-no... no need, Pa. I can manage." She tells him. She wants to go to Caloy by herself. She won't be able to focus if she is just sitting at the back of the car.
"But, Anak... Mas delikado sa'yo ang –"
She grabbed her things and went near her father to give him a buzz on the cheek. "I will be fine, Papa. I will call you once I'm with Caloy."
Leandro sighs. "Okay. I trust you on this one. Mag-iingat ka."
She nodded. "Bye, Pa. Call you later."
Leandro nodded and plants another kiss on his daughter's forehead before letting his unica hija go.
Leaving Batangas was an easy feat for Lia, however, reaching the metro was a different story. Traffic made everything slow and it's not helpful that the clouds are starting to turn gray and after a while, the sky decided to give a downpour.
"Bakit ngayon pa umulan?" Lia mumbles to herself. She checked her phone, hoping from an update from any of her friends but there was none. She dialed Caloy's number, but she can't contact him, making her more anxious by the minute.
After a couple of hours, she finally reached north and most of the drive is filled with nervousness, anxiety, and prayers. Her heart kept praying that he is well and nothing serious happened to Caloy, but at the same time, her mind cannot help but to overthink.
So, she lets the radio distract her, trying to sing along if she can so her mind can think of lyrics instead of something else. She just finished singing along to Earth, Wind, and Fire when a new song started to dissolve in.
There goes my heart beating
Cause you are the reason
I'm losing my sleep
Please come back nowThere goes my mind racing
And you are the reason
That I'm still breathing
I'm hopeless nowI'd climb every mountain
And swim every ocean
Just to be with you
And fix what I've broken
Oh, cause I need you to see
That you are the reasonLia immediately wiped off the tear that fell from her eye. The way the song struck her was unexpected because truly, everything that she is now is because of the love that Caloy has been giving her. She has never been this happy with someone and she is having regrets on what happened to their relationship.
If only she didn't push him away, if only she apologized and let things go, and if only she let understanding rule over them, she won't experience any of this. For now, she just wishes that she can fix everything that she broke because she doesn't know how things will be if she won't have Caloy back.
