Be Mine

82 - Part 1

They say that the three things that you should never break are promises, trust, and someone else's heart, and for Mel, she broke all three. She met the love of her life when she needed someone the most. Someone that understands, cares, and loves her. She felt like she is the luckiest woman in the world for having Caloy in her life, but it is just unfortunate how she constantly had to balance the approval of her parents with her decisions, including the man that she wants to be with, and making sure that Caloy is also well taken cared off as her boyfriend. She found security in his arms and had the dream of building their lives together.

But she needed to choose.

She needed to decide to make sure that her parents are satisfied and Caloy is safe. She chose to sacrifice her happiness than harming Caloy and his family. She didn't want to let him go, but she needed to push him away so he will live. She didn't want things to end, she just did what is best for him. She hoped that at the end, her sacrifices are worth it. She was hopeful that he can wait because she believed that their love was something great. It was something magical. It was something worth dying for.

However, everything was too late. She broke the promises, his trust, most especially his heart that led him to finding someone else. He moved on and built new dreams for himself. Dreams without her. He was able to prioritize himself this time and it hurts her because she is not part of it anymore. It hurts how he was able to throw everything away easily, but nothing hurts more than being away with family, getting physically abused, and most of all, losing a baby. A baby that could've been theirs.

Her journey was hard, rough, and excruciating because she is determined to get him back. She is hopeful with the spark of love that she has for him. What they have is something that she lived and lives for, and she used that to earn herself back. She wanted to show him that after five years, they can be together. They can have what they used to have without hindrances. They are now free to be together, but the freedom that she aims for is only relevant to him because she is stuck; stuck in the past and trapped in a love that she can no longer have.

Mel never wanted to hurt anyone. She is not the type of person to be desperate, but her heart was breaking at every moment that she sees him happy without her. She deserves that happiness too, after all that she's been through, she is worthy to have him back.

But that night, she didn't know what has gotten into her. Greed, jealousy, anger, and possessiveness dominated her. She doesn't know how it came to a point of putting someone else's life in danger. She didn't mean to and she is sorry. The next thing that she knows is that guilt came in like a raging waterfall when she was already on the plane that is leaving for a business trip. It wasn't easy dealing with everything when she was gone, trying to run away from a sin that she knows that broke Caloy's heart and it is all because of her once again. The angel and devil in her mind started to argue, making her lose track of the things that she needed to be on the right path.

She was in a dark state when she lost Caloy five years ago, she recovered and was on the road to the see the light at the end of the tunnel, but she felt like there was a massive tornado that swept her back to the dark. Unfortunately, darkness ruled once again. Darkness controlled her and found herself in the hospital, trying to survive a life that she felt like she doesn't deserve.

But most of all, with what she went through and what she did, there is one thing that she is not worthy of... and that is the man that is now in front of her as soon as she opened her eyes that day.

"Kumusta ka na?"

Three words and yet it already made her well up. Tears are forming and it easily betrayed her when they fell from her eyes. He is the last person that she wanted to see, but he is also the only person that she wants to have in her life. How did it come to this?
