Conversation's in the Dark (Merhayes)

There is going to be a time jump in this chapter. Just wanted to give a heads up.

"Hello Mrs. William, I'm doctor Hayes and this doctor Grey."  Hayes told Maddies mom. "Hi Mrs. William it's nice to meet you. Your daughter had a few complications during her surgery but doctor Hayes and I were able to keep them under control." As she said doctor Hayes she looked up at him and smiled. Hayes is much taller than Meredith so she always has to look up. "I would like to keep Maddie here over night for observation" Meredith finished her sentence. Hayes followed Meredith sentence saying "I couldn't have said it better than doctor Grey.  We would like to have Maddie stay another night or two. Maddie has to be eating and walking before she can leave" Mrs. Williams thanked them both and then hugged Hayes. Meredith smiled and walked out of the room.

It had been two weeks since Meredith and Hayes worked together, or every spoken to each other. Hayes had gone back to Switzerland to help Cristina with a case. Cristina would not stop texting Meredith about Hayes who she called 'McWiddow' it was kind of cute.

I had the day off from work so I was at home cleaning. I started to do the dishes when my phone ring so I quickly turned off the water and answered my phone. "Hello?" I question. "Ahh hello doctor grey." It was Hayes. But how? I never gave him my number... " I got your number from Yang... I just arrived at the airport and it looks like my car has broken down. I was wondering if you could give me a ride to Grey Sloan." It wasn't a huge deal for me to pick Hayes up so I agreed. "I'll be there in 20 minutes. Do you have the boys with you?" I asked before grabbing my keys and walking out the door "yes." Responded Hayes. "Okay see you soon"

When I got to the airport I immediately saw Hayes, Austin, and Liam. I pulled my car over to where they were. I got out and help the boys get their bags. "I'll drive" remarked Hayes. I thought it was sweet but I knew he had to be tired so I agreed saying "are you sure? You just had a long plane ride..."
"Yes I'm sure" Hayes said as he opened the passenger door for me. I smiled and said "thank you" he closed the door and walked over the the drivers seat. The boys were on the phones completely not paying attention.
"How was your trip?" I asked trying to make conversation, Hayes looked at me and smiled "It was okay the patient made it. Yang says hi." I smile thinking of Cristina, I haven't seen her in years and text just isn't the same. "That's good!" Hayes moved his right hand and rested it on the spot in between his seat and mine. I wanted to hold is hand but I didn't because I wasn't sure what he would do.

It was 1:15 in the afternoon I was hungry and Liam had asked for lunch so we went to a small local shop in town. It was dine -in so we got a table. Hayes sat next to me, Liam on the other side of him and Austin was next to me.
