Blood, Siren's and Death

It was Hayes getting chart's from the nurses station. I walk over and say "hey you" Hayes turn's to his left and say's "hello doctor grey" me and Hayes continue to talk I was laughing when out of no where Andrew marches over. POW "oh my god, what the fuck Andrew?" Andrew had punched Hayes so hard in the face Hayes feel to the ground. Andrew started kicking Hayes in the rib's and punching his face. "DOCTOR DELUCA" yelled Richard. I was crying. Security guard's peel's Andrew off Hayes while Andrew is scream "keep your hand's off Meredith" Hayes start's coughing up blood and I fall to the ground. Maggie walk's over and walk's me to the attendings lounge where she got me a cup of water and tried to calm me down.

It's clear to everyone in the hospital at this point that something is going on between Hayes and I. Maggie got me to calm down some but there was no way I was going to be completely calm untill I know Hayes is okay. Amelia walk's in and tell's me to go to Hayes room. I walk in to see Hayes on a vent and I start to panic again. "N- n- no he- he has to be okay Amelia he has to be okay" Amelia look's at me and just doesn't say anything "AMELIA!" I yell. "Meredith he has a brain bleed and free fluid in his abdomen. His rib's are very bruised and we need to get him to the OR as soon as possible. I thought you would want to say hi before we take him in. Meredith someone need's to tell Liam and Austin." I heard her but didn't hear her. I heard the word's coming out of her mouth but didn't process them. "I-I- I will talk to the boy's they should hear this from someone they are familiar with. Amelia please save him." I looked at Amelia with tear's running down my cheek's. "I'm gonna do my best Meredith, Richard and Bailey are scrubbing in and the gallery will be closed." Amelia walked over to his gurney to get him ready to be wheeled out. I walked over held his hand and kissed it. "Hayes it's me. Fight for me okay? We have plans tonight. I need you here you hear me? I need you. Cormac Hayes I need you here, I want a life with you a family." Maggie tap's me on the back. "Okay Meredith, I need to get him to the OR it's going to be okay."   Maggie is holding my shoulder's while Amelia rushing Hayes to the OR.

"Hello doctor grey, I'm here just to get a report of what happened if you can't do this right we can do it later" said one of the two officer's standing in front of me. "I'm sorry I need to get my kid's from school but after I can answer your question's" I responded still crying. I asked Maggie if she would go get my kid's and drop them off with Hailey the babysitter. I left to pick up Austin and Liam. When I got to the school I walk in and explained the situation to the secretary. She let me take Austin and Liam who were very confused. "Where is dad?" Asked Liam. "He's in a surgery and wanted me to pick you guys up" I lied but telling them the truth right now was not a good idea. "Oh okay. Are we going to your house or mine?" Asked Austin. "Actually we are gonna go back to Grey Sloan and hang out there for a while. Do you boy's have your phone's and charger's?" Liam looked at Austin and gave him a "this is weird" face. "Yeah we have our stuff."
"Okay so you boy's want anything to eat or drink?" I was trying to be as welcoming and normal as possible. "Can we go to Starbucks?" Liam's face light up. I smiled "of corse. Does dad let you have coffee?" Liam said yes I went through the drive through got the boy's the iced coffees they wanted and got myself a hot black with 2 sugar. "Okay boy's when we get to the hospital we are going to do something different then we normally do. It's really busy there right now and I don't want us to get in the way." The boy's nodded.

We got the Grey Sloan and I told the boy's to follow me I walked them back to the room Hayes was gonna be in. "Boy's phone's away, take a seat." Liam and Austin looked worried. "Wait- the last time I was in a room like this- *gasps* what happened?" Austin knew what was happening. "Liam phone away."
"No" Austin looks at him and says "Liam put your damn phone away." I sigh. "Austin I know for a fact your dad doesn't let you say that." Liam looks up. "Okay boys I need to tell you something but I need you to know everything is okay." Amelia is standing in the doorway but doesn't say anything. "Your dad got in a bad fight. He had a few issues and had to get multiple procedures done in the OR. He should be out soon. Dad will be in the hospital for a little while." Austin and Liam sat there just looking at me. I knew it was a rough topic for them to talk about after there mom had died. I wanted to be clear about what happened but also gentle and kind. "Are you okay?" I ask. They nod. "Can I please go back on my phone?" Liam asked. "Yes" Austin was older than Liam but was more emotional, he got up and was crying. He walked over to the other side of the room. I walked over to him he turns around and just hugs me. I place my hand on his head and tell him "it will be okay. Your day is okay"

"Doctor Grey" it was Richard. "Doctor shepherd would like to talk to you at the nurses station. I will sit with the boys." I give Austin a minute and then walk out to meet Amelia. Right as I go to say hello she gets paged 911 to OR 2. "Shit" she says running down the hall. "Move out of my way NOW!"
